Message: I bought a used stock 98 Dakota Sport 3.9 regular cab.
I want to do some upgrades like flowmaster and K&N. What K&N air intake should I get, the one for the 4.7 or do they make one just for a 3.9?
Same goes for the Flowmaster Genn II, should I
go with the 3 inch or the stock size 2 1/2 inch
in and out? And do they make one just for the 3.9
or do I have to go with the V8 cat back? What other Mods will help wake up this 3.9?

So what's your budget?
There's a lot of stuff out there for the V6's.

Yes I do. But that doesn't mean that i'll try to sell you something. Several folks have called me and we've talked about mods, costs, where and what to do first, etc. I've even referred people to other vendors (and not just on my partners list) and will also suggest other options if it'll save you a little bit of money.

Message: Guess you don't want to sell ME anything for some reason Bernd. Sorry if I pissed you off somehow?!? I've sent a couple of emails to info@speedtweaks.net regarding items I'd like to purchase, but not received any response. I'll include the last one here...
BTW: Since the FIPK doesn't yet seem to be available, I'm leaning toward the Intense Perf. Stage-II. Does anyone know why they claim the Stage-III (same kit, but with the heat shield around the filter) won't work for the 3.9L???
----------------------------------------------
Bernd,
I assume you're still waiting on availability of the K&N GenII kit for the V6 to price the Stage-III/IV kits. Any idea when these are expected? Are they actually going to be made for the 3.9L??? If not, what other options do I have (other than home-brew)? Also, when will the JetChip be available?
I would like to order the following:
- Flometrics FMV6 (is there a core exchange???)
- RS 180 T-stat (which part number is for the 3.9L???)
- JBA headers (I assume the Y-pipes are only for the V8's???)
- Gibson single-exit Catback
- Borg Warner cap/rotor
Are all of these available now? I assume there is going to be some kind of package discount on the Stage-XXX kits, versus ordering the components separately???
Any idea what kind of crank HP/torque improvement I'd get with just the above mods.?

Message: In regards to the Stage III upgrade question, when I emailed John at Intense, he indicated that I could purchase the Stage II for my 3.9L and easily upgrade to the Stage III, so I'm not quite sure why the web page for the III says something different.

Message: I've bought several items from Bernd and had very good luck. I'm still waiting for the correct t-stat for my 3.9L, hint hint, but I have found his customer service to be much better than average and his prices are at the least very competitive. If he didn't get back to someone, I am certain that there is a logical reason why.
I'm off my soap box now!

I did respond to that email but here's the brief version:
FlometricsV6 TB - No Core Required
RS 180 T'Stat - GT755-180 (334-180 is still on backorder with Robertshaw)
JBA Headers - No Y-Pipe required for the V6's...it's fine from the factory
Gibson Single Exit - Got it in stock (finally) with spares ready to go
BW Cap/Rotor - Yup...looking at them right now.
Yes, there is a discount for the packages and i'm waiting for the dealer price sheet from John Watkins (Intense Perf) for the intakes. (I'm dropping PaceSetter intakes until they get their "stuff" together.)
Shawn, should be there. My apologies on the late shipping...replacements were overlooked.
If anyone want to know, no...I don't do all of the packaging/shipping/invoicing. There is outside help on this but have had some "issues" with them already. Problems should be solved now and shipping times should be about 2-3 days max for most parts.

Message: Thanks Bernd. Glad to hear most of the important stuff is in stock. I figure I might as well save time and do the TB, Intake, Cap/Rotor all at once. I'll wait until you can offer a package. BTW: If it's possible to use IP's Stage-III with the 9" Pro-Flow on a 3.9L, that would be my choice (I think???). The 3.9L probably doesn't need that kind of flow but it couldn't hurt (right?). I assume the advantage of the Stage-III is that it'll be a true "cold air" system, such that the inlet to the canister can be placed near the front grill. The Stage-II's are still sucking in hot eng. compartment air.
