Subject: So what do you weigh?-your Dak I mean... IP: Logged
Message: I weighed my truck at work today,
WOW
2001 Quad, SLT
manual tranny,
the real mag spare,
cab high Leer shell
and about 18gallons of gas,
4535lbs!
I stepped on the scale beside my truck,
In my dress clothes, shoes, wallet ,cell phone
+165lbs
4700lbs!
So without the shell, and not myuch gas, it'd be about 300 less, loolse the mag spare, tailgate, ....., oh the possibilities
Still, that's heavy, an accurate digital scale too.

Message: Wow that is pretty heavy. I have a 2000 4.7 auto quad cab. I freind of mine owns a scrap yard in town and i'm going to weigh myself on his scale. Not sure how accurate the thing is. It's a freaaking triple beam, straight outa the forties!!!! If not older. Hard to beleive the thing still works.

Oh yeah, don't forget the cab, doing this without a MickeyMouse voice just wouldn't be right :-)

Message: Book says 3730 lbs for my 92 Dak V-6 club cab 4x4. I also have a cap, so maybe just under 3900 lbs. That could explain why my truck feels like it has the same power, but better gas mileage, than the 2005 Dak Quad Cab 4x4 4.7L V-8 that I rented.

Message: Lurkin,
I think you may be onto something there. We could also fill and cap the frame tubes with helium.
I was seriously considering loosing things not entirely essential, like, the window glass, wear goggles. Roof, wear raincoat. the entire body-have a V8 sand rail!, go to about a 4 gallon gas tank, and stop alot at gas station-NOT
The mickey mouse voice is well, too mickey mouse.

Message: I forgot to mention, that my heavy a$$ QC, also has the factory trailer towing package, factory HD engine group, with larger Rad, alternator, and battery. the tire and handling pack, infinity sound, those weigh a little more also.
If you know your (daks) weight, please post!

Message: Here is another idea to think about Lurkin. If you take out those seats and replace them with those blow up beer seats you can get, then you could fill them with helium also, and still have a cup holder and bucket seats.

Message: At www.dodge.com you can pull up capacities/weights for the current (2005) Dakotas. A few months ago, the 2004 specs were on the site as well. For comparison, a '05 Club Cab weighs 150 pounds more than an '04 (regardless of drivetrain), but the '05 Quad Cab is only 60 pounds heavier than an '04. '05 CC's have the extra door weight to deal with, of course. Power-to-weight ratio just took another beating.

Message: I scaled my 96 5.2 auto, 2wd, RC short bed for Dynomometer tesing and it wieghed 3350. That was without me, removed spare tire, and about 4 gallons of gas, I also have the lighter aluminum wheels from the newer dakotas. With my mods that is about 13.96 pounds per every HP. Considering a stock 4X4 QC has 20 pounds for every HP that is a big difference

No, not my toilet!!!
I told people my 4X4 4.7 QC 5 speed auto HD Towing package. was close to 5,000 Lbs and they said No WAy.
I say YES WAY.
What do you guys think mine weighs in at with these additions:
Truck Tool Box. that includes ATV helmet and some gear. Tools including 3/8 and 1/2 inch sockets and wrenches/screwdrivers. Deep Cycle Battery.
Rockford Fozgate P2 sub in WOOD box behind seat.
Two large amps and One power inverter under rear seats. PC computer system behind other seat.
Myself averaging about 179Lbs +/- 4 Lbs weekly.
Occasionally the wife and two kids are in there too. Add about 275 for them three.
I need more power me thinks :(
Because I've been ADDING weight. Not reducing it!

Joey, filling the tires with helium is not a good idea, its a joke... helium is too small an atom, it would leak out fast! ever have a helium ballon>? two weeks later its less than a quater its normal size... to loose significant weight, try a fiberglass hood
