Message: I took my 2000 dakota to a man who ran a code 72 because the abs/ brake light stays on. What is a code 72 and how can I fix it? It started when my battery went dead. I tried unhooking the battery cable , took the fuse out, Th eguy said I ned to take it to a dealer to reset it.

Message: Code 72 indicates that your cat is operating below standard. The most likely cause for the abs/brake light staying on is due to either a faulty vhs/abs sensor or its wiring/connector back on top of the rear diff. casing. Disabling the battery cable will reset things but if the fault(s) are still there the code(s) will be restored again and lamp(s) lit.

Here are the ' codes ' for your truck
- no 72
however ABS/brake light on is usually
a sensor on rear axle.
Someone else may be able to tell you exactly where it is.
Take truck to Autozone for code reading.
Should reset by disconnecting battery for a
few seconds, but that sensor needs fixed first.
