Subject: Better perf from 2001 QC/3.9L IP: Logged
Message: Just got a 2001 QC with the 3.9L Magnum V6. First off, I'm not a big car guy. I love the truck and my only complaint is that its a little sluggish in the lower RPM range. I realize I have only put 350 miles on it and it might improve after a break in period and I'm also aware that I should've gotten a V8 if power was my thing. I'm just wondering if there are any mods that might help with acceleration and throttle response. I'm not trying to win races, i would just like a little better performance. Thanks for any suggestions.

Message: I'll let others here give you the specifics fpr these upgrades (cold air induction upgrade, Throttle Body Swap, Cat-Back exhaust, Autolite 3923 plugs, MSD ignition--well, I suppose that's pretty specific to an extent), but I wanted to confirm your dislike of the lack of power at low RPM. Do you have a stick? I have the 2000 Dakota Club SLT with the auto tranny and I think that is one of the main culprits--the computer wants to shift way too soon. Drives me nuts. I try to keep the Overdrive off in city driving and switch it on during highway driving. I notice that over 2000RPM, the truck responds and moves with a little more authority.
Take care now,
David
