I bought Premium, which is 93 octane in TX, and tonight, with my Randalls card, paid a $1.78/gallon. NOt bad considereing.
Anyway, It would be nice to dyno and look for gains, NOT at WOT, but more like when I'm driving my usual style. Are there any gains at partial throttle, at about 2 grand, but NOT at WOT?
Installed the Perf program tonight w/ 93oct. But dyno9 tomorrow, chassis dyno early this week on the new Superchips w/ the performance setting, on my 4.7.

If nothing changes (the tune) then you will not see an increase in power by going from one octane to another. Octane doesn't create power, it allows more power to be made by resisting ignition.
Now if your running a program that calls for 89 octane and you switch to one that calls for 93 octane then yes you should see an increase in power.
If you run the same 89 octane program and up the octane you will not gain any power. You always want to run the lowest octane possible.
Thats why I mix all my fuel. 92 octane is to low for my car, 110 octane is to high (both of which I can get from a pump) So I mix till I get about 96 octane and run that.

Man, 91 & 93 octane here in Central Florida is at least $2.06 a gallon, I wish I had $1.78 a gallon for premium. Thank goodness I only live 8 miles from work. Unfortunately I still go through a tank a week due to my playful right foot.

gotta love the randalls/reward card ;)
i think we have tom thumb gas at around $1.73 for premium. Here our randalls are called Tom Thumb (same company) and if you spend $50, you get $.06 back. Not a big deal... until you buy 50 gallons a week (my truck plus wifes durango).
here the cheap stuff is $1.53 with the discount.. that's mainly what i use.

You seem to think as if I think the higher the octane, or louder exhaust for that matter, means more speed and power.

But dyno seems a little more crisp. My ride already ran real nice, no death flash, etc. (my)Butt dyno said about an 8hp/tq increase. I hope I'm wrong and it meets my threshold of keeping it.

I appologize I missed the part where you stated that you Installed the Perf program. Sorry.
looks like I'm the idiot.
Somebody may learn something from my post.
BTW yes the louder the exhaust the more hp it makes. If you want maximum hp remove your exhaust manifold and all piping (saves weight too). ..
I'm kidding of course.

Todd, I read somewhere else that, depending on your mods, SC thought that the Tow program may give better results then the Perf program. With 3 pulls coming up, you may want to try that.

Here in Washington St., Safeway runs a similar program, spending 50.00 dollars and get a 6 cent discount on gas. Also to let you know a certain 98 3.9 v6 is living it life out in a 92 short bed dakota, I guess you could call it reincarburation.

Based on the forecast, I'll try and dyno on Thursday. It will be closer to the humidity and temp tomorrow. It would loose some today b/c the humidity will be over double the day I dynoed, it will drop back down with a front tomorrow. Of course I'll post the results, both the perf, and the towing/perf program, to compare to no programmer, and the 87 octane program.
I'm tempted to get a short belt to bypass the P/S, A/C, etc., and to take out the air fiter, etc., like some others have done just to dyno. If I ran my QC on the track, and was going to run it that way, I would. But I want to know what it's really making the way I drive it, belts and all.
