Subject: Transgo shift kit install tips IP: Logged
Message: I just finished the installation of my transgo kit, and hardly noticed a difference at all in the shifts. I'm hoping someone out there has installed the kit and has some advice for me here.
When drilling out the holes in the seperator plate, the instructions say to drill the 1-2 shift at .076"-.086", and the 2-3 shift at .082"-.086". I drilled the 1-2 shift at .080" and the 2-3 shift at .086".
No difference in shift firmness for either one. How big should I go. I have the valve body back out and I'm wondering how big some of you other guys who have installed the kit have drilled the holes to improve firmness on these shifts. I want to get it right this time, so I don't have to take it out and drill it bigger again. Any help would be great.

Message: i put one in my A500, i did,nt drill out one of the holes because the one there was already bigger, the directions in my kit said some may have the larger hole,
the kit is not just a shift kit,it helps stop torque convertor drain back,STOPS overlap between gears, more fluid in O/D etc to help with longitvity of the trans,
if you have a trans that has a good firm shift you may not notice much or any improvement here,
but your trans should last longer

Message: The shifts aren't exactly "firm" in the first place, that's the main reason I'm installing the kit.
All the holes the kit told me to drill were smaller than what the instructions said to drill them too. I enlarged them all a bit, but didn't notice much, if any difference at all. I'm wondering how big to drill them to firm up the shifts quite a bit, but also would like to know how big is too big?
