Message: questions back at ya,
what are you planning to do with your truck ?
cruise it,work it,race it etc
when you say new short block,do you mean NEW or new to you as in rebuilt?if it,s NEW then why would you want to stroke it when all the bottom end work is done?and a new block would,nt make as good of a stroker motor than a used season block because it does,nt have the thermo cycles
[hot,cool]
i,m not trying to talk you out of doing a stroker
just trying to get some info
you could buy a nice set of elderbrock heads and a port and polish for about the same $$$ as the stroker kit, maybe less

Message: If you have the money, then definately stroke it. There really is no draw backs from a good stroker kit.

Message: Cruise and race-it's kinda my weekend warrior. I already have my 318 pretty suped up. My cam, heads, M1 intake, and Kenne Bell midlengths and 3 inch exhaust with cutout are all swapping over. My heads are stock ones that are bowl ported with a 5 angle valve job. I'm probably gonna go ahead and put the 2.02 valves in em. My cam is a Comp Extreme Energy 224/230 570/578 lift on a 112 LSA. I knew it was too big for the 318 when I bought it, but I bought it knowing I was gonna put it in a bigger motor down the road. My computer is also custom flashed by Tom Fox at Mike Leach(it will get reflashed for my new combo). I also have a set of 24lb injectors. I guess I was just mainly wondering if it was worth the extra money to stroke it.

Message: if you bought the cam too big for the sake of one day putting in a bigger motor, i'll bet you are dying to write that check. do the stroker and let it breath (eldbrock heads).
402 is what you should end up with unless it's bored and it will run 408. dude do it. your truck would be pretty awesome with a build 408.
too much torque!

i agree with most on the stroker with the parts you have now,cam,intake etc;
but you would have a strong runner with the 360 with these same parts in it
bottom line is your the one driving it and footing the bill NO matter what any of us say
my advise is do some resource on both, see which one will do what your looking for, everything is a comparmise, where you gain in one area you most likely loss in another
islander
the reason i said elderbrock heads was dak318 had,nt said any thing about his heads and that elderbrock just released their NEW mag head and the early #s show good flow right out of the box
according to hughes engines,i,m not sure if they are better than the RT heads, but my guess is that THEY ARE and everything from your stock heads bolt to these

Message: GO TOO HUGHES ENGINES.COM THEY HAVE A 408 DYNO SHEET on their own motor
and do a SOURCE ON THE 360
IF YOU NEED THIS INFO YOU HAVE TO SOURCE FOR IT
not all 408s will dyno the same,OR 360s the same

Message: I HAVE BEEN SOURCING! DO NOT HOLLER AT ME! Thank you. I was just asking if anybody knew off the tops of their heads. I am quite aware that all motors do not dyno the same. GEEEZ!
