Message: They are a good thing to have if you live in a hot area and have a modded tranny with stall converter. A trans temp gauge is a good idea also to monitor the fluid temps.

Message: Engine oil coolers are rarely (if ever) needed on an essentially stock street motor in normal use. Trucks doing duty in racing, desert slow speed hauling, in town delivery in the desert, stuff like that, will need a cooler.
In a street cooler, you always need to use a thermostat. Oil must be at least 180* to operate correctly. Cold oil for extended periods is trouble.
Some Ford V8's use a heat exchanger between the oil filter and the block. Since Dodge and Ford use the same filter, I don't see why it wouldn't work. Although in my truck there just isn't room for it. Canton makes some very nice heat exchangers, but they are expensive.

Message: The block mount is the same. You can attach a Ford filter to a Dodge block, and vice versa. The differrance is in the cannister length. Try it sometime.
