Anybody have any experience to say if a stage II is significantly better than a stage 1? I have an '00 Dak 4X4, 31" tires, 3.92 axles, Auto tranny, 3.9L, Gibson single, JBA's, and K&N filter. Is a stage II worth it if you need to run premium gas and change the thermostat? Should I just go with a stage 1? Or are the chips even worth it?? I am really looking to improve acceleration for daily driving, and I have heard that the chips work well on a 3.9 with exhaust mods.

Thanks everyone!!

From what i've heard, the Stage-II works much better on acceleration. I don't have mine installed anymore, but can tell you this...it's worth it.

Shawn,

Just installed my Stage II this weekend. Installing the chip was the easy part, maybe about 3 minutes to install. The hard part came when installing the thermostat. While taking off the plastic part that the return line for the radiator runs too, the bolt broke off inside the timing cover housing. We(Me and My Dad) tried everything to get it out, but it wouldn't come out, we drilled, tried easy outs, which were just bending, so then we tried to tap the whole, which didn't work either cause the tap broke. So we had to take the whole timing cover housing off, which took forever considering they don't have any kind of manuals out for the 4.7L yet. After getting it off we managed to get it drilled and tapped but the whole bolt was corroded and cross-threaded. I don't know if just got the shitty timing cover or if all are like this so be careful, this job took about 25 hrs to complete, and I spent about $100.00 for supplies. $35.00 for the gasket, $35 for the puller to get the harmonic balancer off, and then Kerosene fuel for the heater in the garage...I do notice a great increase in performance though.....And even after all this i will still recommend the stage II to peoples.....
