Subject: Truck ran 9.98 at 138 mph IP: Logged
Message: Just finished my truck build up and after some tuning
and practice runs it ran a 9.98 at 138 mph spinning the
tires for the first 75 yards or so (bad traction probs).
here are the specs:
Street Driven (Drive to work)
Hemi orange 1994 RC Short bed 2wd lowered 4 in rear
and 3 in front dakota.
Supercharged (15psi) forged 390 stroker, krc 220 cam,
2.02 heads, m1 4bbl manifold (magnum, EFI) with a
100 shot of nitrous.
truck has all working accesories and full all black
interior. Truck weighed in at 3175 lbs with me in it.
Still has major traction problems that I need to resolve.

Message: So you are saying that you are making in the neighborhood of 641 RWHP and about 802 at the crank. Man I need to see a scan in of a Dyno Sheet for that truck. Keep us posted and I need a good phone number on your dealer, mine can't get me any halucinagenes that compare to that anymore.

Message: Damn that's one fast truck. I'm guessing it must have ran around 6.40 in the 1/8th. I thought my truck was fast and my best time in the 1/8th is 7.51. Sounds like you've got one awsome Dakota. Keep us posted on times after you get traction problems worked out. 9.70's or 9.60's with traction would be awsome.

Message: Good run. Need some more info though. What S/C are you using. How big is your TB? Assuming you are running 1.6s with that cam. What piston set did you decide to go with? Looking at doing the same thing to mine but no nitrous.
Do you have any traction bars on the rear? Caltracs, etc.?

Message: 58 TB, paxton charger, pretty much the same power scott q has but in a lighter truck and smaller higher reving engine (318 block). I have side exhaust and my traction bars were hitting the exhaust clamps so I took them off. Just got my viper wheels balanced and put on (335/35/17 rear, 275/45/17 front). They arent like the nice flashy 2005 viper wheels or anything but they do the job. I just need to find a way to relocate my E-brake cable because the rear tire was rubbing on it (just lopped the cable off for now).

Message: Cool. Are you running with a 360 PCM or the Mopar 318 one? Haven't found many people doing flashes on the older OBDI units. I know Bill ran his 408 off a 360 Ram PCM, but he never put a blower on his. Any driveability issues around town?

Message: Stroker,
What rearend do you have in your truck? Also, the above post asked what transmission you have, if it's a automatic what size and brand converter are you running? I only ask because my truck has been through 4 rearends and 2 converters and I only run in 11.60's.

Message: bullsh!t! at that e.t. and speed, you need the following to pass tech at nhra tracks.
parachute
roll bar
neck collar
helmet
firesuit
tranny shield
window net
And thats just part of passing tech. all of those requirements dont make for a streetable daily driver. possible? yes. likely? no!
look here ( http://www.nhra.com/tech_specs/ETQuickRef.html ) for more requirements for 9.99 and quicker. prove me wrong.

Message: I agree, it is highly unlikely.
A perfect all out chassis w/manual trans and 14" slicks will only turn a 10.00 @ 135 mph. And he says he is spinning.
Also a Paxton won't spool up that fast unless he is on the juice at take off.
How did he get the truck so light?
Possible, but doubtful. 9 sec. is fast at that weight.

Message: That video is still a long ways from 9.98 and spinning the tires for 75 yards. Do you even really realize how fast the vehicle would have to be going to make that time with spinning for that far? That is some major acceleration, and I guarantee a daily driver won't do it. I mean really, that is 225 feet of non traction and very little forward movement. That is almost 20% of the track length. There is no way that he ran that time with only 80% of the track left to get up to that speed.

Ron merrick ran the fastest street driven R/T spinning the tires for the first 100 yards! I guess some of you just dont understand racing and are to caught up trying to be Mr investigator because your pissed off that someone is actually fast. Now I know why all the experts left this board. Its to bad....
