Message: Well it is a pretty big restriction, but I wouldn't mess with it unless you are planning to rid your dakota of the cat that is after it. The stock y-pipe and cat are the bottle neck here. If it was my truck I would definately get rid of the cat and stock y-pipe and go true duals. If you do decide to do that you would need a O2 simmulator for the rear oxygen sensor on your (2000 dakota). Also don't go with pipe any bigger than 2 1/2 (if duals). If you do decide to go single(3or 3 1/2) and take the cat off Flowmaster makes a y-pipe (look in summit or jegs or go to their website) I think its under $50.00. I have one on my truck. Oh YA, definatley will uncork exhaust and give you noticeable gains in all rpms whichever route you choose to go.

Message: does the flow master or custom y-pipe replace the cat. i would probably rather get a cheap, high flow cat over replacing mine. or else gutting it but i don't want to gut it then have to buy another one for emmissions one day. plus i don't want to pollute for 3 hp or whatever gains no cat does over high flow cat. OR does the flowmaster y-pipe just replace my y pipe
