Message: Hello all
I'm looking for info on a B block powered early dak, 87 to 90 to be exact.
Can this swap be used as an everyday vehicle with a sane motor, about 350 horse?
EVERYDAY MEANS 24 7 365 NEW YEARS day to NEW YEARS Eve.
How bad is this swap with engine compartment space?
What's done to keep it cool?
Radiator modifications?
Exhaust?
Premade Headers look to be out of the question. The ones I've seen look like you'd be lucky to get 5 grand out of them.
I know about engineswaps.com. I need to know about after getting the motor in and running.
Just something I'm considering replacing my supercharged premag 6 with.
Any help will be appreciated. Thanks

Message: Plenty of engine compartment space. Electric fan. Might have to go to a thinner radiator (not sure on that part). I don't see why you couldn't use it as a daily driver (might be a little squirrely if you get snow where you live).

Message: Thanks Bill
The reason I asked about the space is that the Shelbys look kinda tight in there and the B engine is about an inch longer than the A engine. That flat nose tends to cut down on the space a little.
Thanks, Jim

Message: A guy in my home town had(sold it) a pro street 1st gen dak with a 383 in it.
I don't know if he built it but I saw it at a cruise night once and there looked to be plenty of room. The headers were "A" body chasis headers, that much I remember from cpa (tti).

Message: There's plenty of room for an electric fan. The Shelbys used twin electrics in front of the radiator, but behind the air conditioning evaporator, so they're essentially invisible. Anyway, there's about 3 1/2 inches from the front of the water pump (318/360) to the radiator support. Many years ago I searched the catalogs til I found an OEM radiator that'd fit in the radiator support frame. I removed the twin fans, and with a little metal trimming, slid the radiator for a Supra Turbo in. Nowadays, you could get an aluminum unit that'd fit easily (and cool even better). Anyway, this leaves 3 1/2 inches of room....easily enough for an electric in the puller configuration, or, in my case, a flex fan with a 1-inch spacer. Works for me, and it'll never burn out. That's worth a few HP to me. Anyway, get a custom radiator, slide it in, and it'll free up the space you need.

Message: Thanks Riv.
Don't really want the pro street, like I said everyday. I was thinking fenderwells but thought they might be rough everyday. I have a set of manifolds reccomended by schumacher (early B Body), but they look like logs, but they are a possibility. wow alot of buts in that paragraph Thanks Again
