Subject: Keisler 6 speed and 402 swap
IP: Logged

Message:
Just wondering, if anyone here would know if the new Keisler 6 speed tranny would bolt up with just mounts, in place of my 4cyl Reg cab tranny? I was wanting to get a loan so I couls swap in a 402 Magnum, with the new 6 speed. Also, I believe that I have the 8 1/4 rear end. Thinking about going Dana, but I am curious how much you think I could put to the same rear end with a posi unit thrown in?

Just like GS motorsports, Keisler is not telling the whole story.

The swap is tricky and requires an intimate knowledge of manual transmission operation to install.

If you can, the most recommended way to do the swap is to have Keisler do it himself.

Oh and you will need a bigger loan for the 6-speed, $4,000 to get the do-it-your-self kit.

Yeah. I knew about the price on the 6 speed. Is there another route? Maybe a good 5spd, that could handle about 500-600 horses.

fun to talk about. You are taking on a gigantic project.
But hey, have fun, it sure would be a ballzy dak!

Not saying that I will do this immidiatly, however, I will not get a new vehicle when the engine in this quits. I will, instead take the same money and put it back into this baby. Why buy a new slow crap car or truck, that I cant work on without millions of dollars in computer equip, when I can have a haul ass, good looking truck? Not going to happen here. It's either this, or I'm going to see if I can find an old GTX, or Roadrunner to restore. I would prefer keeping this truck though. Seems more unique...

Keisler makes a tko2 based setup as well as the t56 kit.

Either way the most important parts are the bellhousing, and whatever they do for the ECU (i didnt have to deal with that part)

In any casse it would probably be in your best interests to have keisler do the install. I've been down that road and it was very bumpy.

Thanks again for the info.
Now I wonder how long we'll be able to drive combustion engine vehicles in the US? 20, 30, 40 Years? Maybe I'll just swap in an extremely High torque electric motor with a small Nuclear reactor?
