Subject: Throttle Body Cable!!! IP: Logged
Message: Bernd, you probably can help me with this one!!
I've heard when getting a new car/truck that the throttle body cable over time will loosen up. Causing a slack in the cable, which to me means that the throttle response will be slower. But wouldn't that also cause the throttle not to open to the max. Instead of 100% of throttle when hitting the gas, you would only get 85% of throttle.
Maybe it sounds crazy, but I think the throttle would be affected by a slack in the cable. Same principal applys to a bicycle hand brake.
If this is true, how do you go about tighting up the throttle cable??
Thanks in advance

Yes....to a point. Unless your mashing the pedal tot eh floor excessivly, the cable should last you quite some time. I have never had to tighten up a throttle cable in my days at the shops...even on high mileage vehicles (180K+ miles).
