This thread was originally started, b/c I was impressed with my 4.7 MANUAL tranny being able to do 100mph, at 6,000 rpm in 3rd.
Your auto is 1:1 in third, my manual is 1:1 in fourth gear. So my third gear is a shorter gear than yours.
12.8 is a nice time slip.

Now that you think about it, that's more like doing 100MPH in 2nd gear on an auto Todd. Depending on gears of course.

Yea, it's really nice. I've dynoed, and doing the conversions back to crank using an 18% loss, my 2001 4.7, dak puts out over 265hp, and over 360ft/lbs of torque! With the manual tranny, I enjoy it every time I drive it, still, since 2001.

Friend just bought a '01 with the 4.7 5-speed with 3.92 gears in it. Crane cams, Superchips, headers and port-polished heads. That thing is a beast. I like it a lot. That and it also gets decent gas mileage. I would still like to have a 360 with a TKO transmission with 3.92s in the rear. I think that would be a great setup.

I know that mine has the 3.21 gears in it, but with the AX-15 it seems too low geared. I would hate to drive it with 3.92s or lower. :(

I have a 98 with 5.2 5 speed trans and I am pretty sure I have 3.55s It is 2wd. And I wouldn't dare to try and get my truck to 100mph in 3rd. There is no way. I would probably blow her for sure. I usually shift out of 4th around 100-110. She is basically stock tho. What gears should i get to not have this thing geared so low? at 75mph im turning around 3,000 rpm. OR would a diff. cam do the trick?

I think some of you guys need to be reminded to check the speed rating of your tires before going like 120 mph on 99mph rated tires...
Especially the guy from 2004 with a 4x4 with 31 inch tires going well over 100mph. LOL
Tire blows, you kill a family when your truck goes flying through the air into oncoming traffic. Gee, I guess you can guess what happens next; if you survive... You become someones butt buddy in Pound me in the ass prison. Not to mention you'll probably lose your license for life... LOL
Trucks aren't sports cars people, if you want to go that fast, get a sports car and save it for the racetrack.
