Subject: ssbrakes rear disc conversion IP: Logged
Message: Has anyone done the SS Brake's rear disc brake conversion on thier 4wd Dakota. I want to do it but wanted to see if it was worth doing. I have an 01 Quad cab with the 4.7 and unless I adjust the rear brakes almost daily they don't do much of anything for stopping me. I have Gibson headers and exhaust as well as a K&N FIPK kit on it. I'm sure that doesn't help the brakes much. Any feedback on the conversion would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Jim

Message: I did the SSB conversion about 3 months ago and couldn't be happier with the results. I have a 00 4x4 with the 4.7 and warped the front rotors three times within 40,000 miles. I have not had any problems with the new setup yet except for some mild scraping noise when going in reverse, but it seems to be diminishing. The truck also seems to be more stabilized when stopping quickly.

Message: Thanks for the response, does the kit come with a proportioning valve or did you even have to install one?
