Subject: Your thoughts on Nitrous? IP: Logged
Message: HP / $ is pretty good. A 100 shot system only runs about $550 I have found...maybe cheaper if I look around.
What is your experience with Nitrous? No doubt it is hard on the engine, but with proper maintenance and wise use (if that is possible) will an engine last?
Have you used NOS on your truck? How do you like it? How often do you use it?

Message: I've been using nitrous for 4 years. I don't know how I ever got by without it.LOL Anyway, I had over 100 1/8th mile runs on my stock shortblock using 100hp shot. It would still be together today but I had to add a stroker kit. I only run nitrous at the track, I've been temped but I don't use it on the street. As long as you use it in moderation you'll be fine. I suggest a good ignition system with a timing retard and premium fuel with octane booster if your gonna run more than a 75 shot but I like playing it safe. Doing this it shouldn't cut the engines life any shorter at all.

Message: Just curious as to why do don't use it on the street. I am running the MSD 6A ignition system, but I don't believe it allows for timing retardation.

Message: Never really had to use it on the street. Also, If I foot brake stall my converter then go to take off(as from a stop light), It just spins the tires on all motor. No use trying to break something putting the bottle on it.

Message: I think that nitrous is to a car exactly like crack or cocaine is to a human. It produces extra performance, but also, for a much shorter life.

Message: I think if it was used in moderation it wouldn't effect reliability or longevity. What are the problems Nitrous would cause? A lowered rev limit would help matters. Possibly stronger valve springs.

Message: Lowing your rev limit will damage you truck if you are spraying. the only problems it would cause is if you dotonate then you will have big problems pistons and rods. Just dont knock, I am spraying 125 without pulling any timeing. I am going to pull 4 degrees with 150 shot. you are supose to pull 3 degrees with a 100 shot if you are stock.

Message: What size jets are you running for fuel and nitrous. Nitrous Express told me that there are no jets for 125 shot. Only 50, 75, 100, and 150.
Thanks
