Subject: Track times from 2000 R/T within: IP: Logged
Message: Ok, made it out to the track last night with some pretty decent results in my 2000 R/T. One thing i was somewhat disappointed in was my Mopar PCM. I could never get it to shift at 5200 unless i did it manually. One time it shifted at 5200 in first, but 4400 in second, so i had to resort to manually shifting to get the best times.
My mods to date: Mopar PCM, K&N GenII, cap/rotor, 8mm wires, 180* thermostat, IAT adjuster.
Heat was a killer last night, as the first time i ran it was 93*, but ended up cooling down to the lower 80's by the end of the night.
***This was a 1000'(with 1/8 miles also) track, not 1/4 mile***
--------
Run #1 - (First time to ever take truck down the track)
.813
2.392
6.685
10.207
70.38 mph
13.025
80.11 mph
As you can see here i was VERY traction limited. I couldn't hear if i was spinning b/c i was racing a 10-sec camaro.
--------
Run #2
.800
2.328
6.572
10.068
70.83 mph
12.865
81.00 mph
Only change i made here was uncapping my exhaust. I also shifted a tad bit earlier (manually @ 5100) - I NEED A SHIFT KIT BAD!!!!
--------
Run #3
.541
2.257
6.377
9.868
70.98 mph
12.663
80.81 mph
Mopar PCM learning more? No changes made here except a better burnout and launch. I stalled it to about 1200, which seemed to work in my favor. Still a bad 60' time though.
--------
Run #4
.699
2.186
6.279
9.700
72.27 mph
12.455
82.04 mph
I capped my exhaust cut-out this time. The truck was also cooler and i did a much better burnout - and the time reflects. I think the biggest difference though was the PCM. I left it in '2' and it shifted out of first at 5300, and i manually shifted it from '2-D' at 5100. I think that must be the biggest improvement. I NEED A SHIFT KIT!!!!!
--------
Run #5
.624
2.235
6.359
9.797
72.00 mph
12.558
81.93 mph
I hot lapped it on this one and couldn't hook up. At this point the track was starting to get a little slippery.
--------
Run #6
.800
2.328
6.572
10.068
70.83 mph
12.865
81.00 mph
--------
Run #7
.781
2.244
6.362
9/875
70.64 mph
12.683
80.54 mph
Last run of the night. I left it in 'D' and hoped that by now the PCM knew my shift points - It didn't. It shifted out of first at 4800 and out of second at 4200. Anyone know whats up with this thing?!?!
I had a great time at the track. Main reason i went last night was to watch my dad in his '98 Formula with a few mods. He was running 10.4x's N/A and 9.7x's on the bottle. It was fun to watch his car woop-up on all the all-out race cars.
Now, can anyone give me advice as to what mods would help out the most next?? I know i need a tb, i'm just contemplating on whether to get the Fastman or Flowmetrics. What else after the TB? Also, anyone have any input as to why my PCM was shifting so early? I think it would really help if i could just leave it in 'D' and let the tranny do all the work, but unfortunately when it shifts at 4500-4800 in every gear, my time slows down.
Thanks for any help!

Message: Your reation time SUCKS,when you see the light turn yellow stomp the gas it will be green by the time you break the beams and I would just stay with shifting it manually other than that just start adding mods.

Message: you said you were running the 1/8 mile with 12 sec passes? if so i think you need to go back to the dealer. i have a 2000 dak club cab with the 4.7 and auto tranny, running almost a 10 flat, no mods done at the time. there is a r/t runs down at the track i go to running 9.7 sec passes.

Message: The 12 sec passes are at the 1000' mark. Time before that is 1/8th mile.

Message: yeah, i know my reaction sucked. It was based on a .500 tree, so the one .541 was pretty good, all the other ones were horrible. Guess i just fell asleep everytime =).
I think the times are decent considering it was about 85-90* during most my runs. My 12.45 (run #4) i think i could get down to around 12.2 with better weather/driving.

Message: i havent ever heard of the 1000 ft thats blowing my mind. we just have a little 1/8 here and have a pretty good turnout on thursdays and saturdays. i want to run mine again since i have added a lot of weight to it adding six twelve inch rockford fosgate subs in the extended cab part. i dont know how much it slowed me down but im interested.
