Subject: 2000 QC 1/4 time IP: Logged
Message: I finally ran it last night and the best I could get was 15.89 et. Is this OK for a fairly stock quad cab 2wd? 5.9L, K&N FIPK, 3" Flowmaster cat-back, 180 t-stat, removed spare and tailgate, TPS @ .73v, Pirelli Scorpion Zero tires. Everything else is stock.
What suggestions can you give me to lower that time??
Thanks

Message: I would say that sounds about right - heck, I've heard of RT's running those kind of times too. I mean it is a QUAD cab, and you are running 3.55's.....

Message: Yeah thats probably pretty good for a quad cab. Those things weigh like 4600lbs or better. Switch your gears to 3.92's or 4.10's. Your options for improving your et's are endless.

Message: In the near future (1-2 weeks), I'm going to remove the stock fan and install an electric, move my IAT sensor, install a Jet Stage 2 chip.
I'd like to get a 52mm tb, 3.92 gears, Transgo shift kit, headers, M1 intake when my funds will let me. hehe

Message: I'd skip the jet chip and put that money towards and MSD ignition. It'll probably give you more power than the jet chip.

Message: CThomp - Thanks for that info. Are you meaning the entire ignition system or just plug wires?
Also, where can I find an underdrive pulley for a 2000 5.9L???? Do they not exist???

Message: So, the Jet chip is basically a waste of money? If so, what about those Superchip or Hypertech tuners?

Message: superchips and hypertechs work awesome, because they actually reprogram the pcm. other than the jet chip the mods you have listed will give you some really great improvments.
i didn't know they put the 5.9 in 2wd quad cabs, i thought the only 5.9 2wd configuration was the R/T...

Message: I would have gotten the 5.9L if I would have gotten the quad cab back in '00. But I opted for the 4.7L.
The Jet chip is a total waste of money. Hypertech and superchips have both had varying reviews. Some good some bad. Mostly good though from what I've read.
Don't forget aboout your suspension!!
Do you have an LSD?
What are your gears?
Do you have any suspension upgrades? (lowered, caltracs, etc.)
Get the whole ignition. Look on krcperformance.com for the skinny on the benefits.
