I have a '94 Dak w/ 180,000 miles on her. My gas gauge bounces all over the place and I have to wait until my gas gauge comes on to know whether I need it or not. Is it the connectors or a ground or what? Thnx for the help.

It is probably the " poor " sender..
Shell gas for one ' corrodes ' or otherwise
damages Chryco senders..
As long as you get the { low } or [ on reserve ]
light when you should , I would not worry about
it..
My 95 is doing same thing...

I had this same problem (1995 5.2L) but fixed it by using Chevron with Techron fuel injector cleaner (20gal treatment size - $10). The gauge returned to normal after about 50 miles of driving. I figured the cleaner dissolved the varnish buildup. I now use one treatment every 3K miles and the problem has not returned. It may be worth a try before dropping the tank or changing a gauge.

hello to all, your sending unit on your fuel pump has gone out. if you want to fix this you have to buy a new fuel pump assembly their around 160.00 at the parts shop. mine didn't work for about three years until my pump stopped working and i finally broke down and bought a new one.

I have the same thing on my 92. Guage has been jumping around for about a year now. Has 183k miles. It settles down once it gets between 1/2 and 3/4 tank. From that point it is fine until the tank is refilled. No problems with the other gauges except the tach. Every once in a while the tach drops to 0, then back up again. Still runs every day, which is all I can ask for.

I had the same problem on my '98. You can replace the sending unit without having to replace the entire fuel pump. Just ask the dealer for the sending unit. Only $40 for my '98.
