Message: I want to replace everything electrical that can be upgraded in my 2001 SC R/T. Which is better: MSD or Mallory? If I went MSD, I was looking at getting:
HVC Coil
MSD Wiring Harness Adapter
Noise Filter
Digital-7 Plus Ignition
Pro-Cap, Distributor Cap, and Rotor
Pro-Billet Distributor
Adjustable Timing Control
8.5 mm Super Conductor Wire Set
Autolite spark plugs
Magnum Engine Controller
I don't really know much about this, I was just picking things out of Summit. Will these work together? What kind of improvements would be noticeable?

MSD Digital-6+ is more than adequate for the 5.9L and they don't have a replacement distributor for the Magnum engines...they do for the regular SB Mopars though. As for the coil, HVC is again more than enough and you can run the Blaster-SS as an alternative.
If you're going to be running a Mopar PCM you don't need a timing controller at all. If you are going to be running a Supercharger, then you may need it (MSD Boost Timing Controller).
On the plugs and wires, excellent choice. The Autolite 3923's work very well in the R/T's and any aftermarket wire is better than the stock 7.5mm set. Definitely get the harness...the noise filter is optional unless you're running a CB or high powered Stereo system.

Message: I'm gonna borrow the subject line but apply it to the 2001 4.7...are there any kits out there like the Jacobs Omni series for the non 4.7s (their 4.7 is due in September)...or for now, should I just get a good set of metal core 8.5mm plug wires and copper autolite 3923s and wait till September?
Thanks.

Message: Mace there are no plug wires on the 4.7 or distributor its uses a dis system with 8 individual coils,if you have a distributor and plug wires you dont have a 4.7

Too many people have had problems with the Jacobs systems (warranty, tech support, actual product). It's a nice system but the "Tried and True" MSD is still the #1 choice.
On the 4.7L system, MSD is supposed to have something ready for it within the next 30-60 days.
Do NOT run METAL Core wires. They will interfere with the onboard computer system(s).

Message: Well guys, thanks for being around and that is why I come here.
Looks like I need to spend more quality time under my hood other than just checking fluids.
Ok, no distributor to give spark to the plugs via plug wires, hence no plug wires but the 8 coils.
BTW, quoting Jacobs on metal core wires:
'Absolutely the finest available! Features: 8.5mm; metal core conductor (gives better mileage, power, and quicker, easier starting, even on the coldest, dampest mornings), with no radio noise; 100% silicone insulation; vulcanization (wire and boots bonded into one piece of silicone); available to meet varying functional and cosmetic needs; warranted for the life of the vehicle.
Jacobs' true metal core wires have superior radio noise suppression while still conducting electricity 280% better than old-fashioned spiral cores.'
Interested in what MSD has for our 4.7, thanks!
