The pad only contacts the outer part of the rotor. Suppose to be that way. I think they use a slightly larger rotor to make clearance but not sure. The brakes should operate just fine though mine do. Let me know if what I described is what your looking for.

Z-Tube, R/T Rims, SSB Rear Disc Conversion, Alpine Head-Unit, Infinity Kappa Speakers, SilverStar Headlights, HO Cams & Intake installed.

Well, it's been a while, and now the pads seem to be getting full grip of the rotors, so the brakes stop just fine. I've been constantly adjusting the parking brake cable to find the right tension; it seems like no matter where I adjust it to, there is always eventually a light groaning noise coming from the brakes (I assume the parking brake) at slow speeds. It it driving me nuts, because just when I think I've found the right spot, it starts up again.

Michael, you've been a huge help so far, but I need to ask one more thing: where is the nut on your parking brake cable adjusting bolt at? I mean distance-wise, from the open end of the bolt. From the end of the bolt to the beginning of the nut, my measurement is 2 & 3/4 inches. It seems like any more than a 1/4 inch in either direction causes a great deal of drag.

That I don't remember, but I'll try to measure it tommorrow. I do think however that it took a great deal of adjustment, I mean taking out a lot of slack after the install. The moan is normal though, it should go away after a sec though. Even the factory ones do it, my dads Ram 1500 does it to. So don't feel like your the only one. Even for that I will still never have a set of drums again.

Later,
Michael

Did you every get the noise to stop? I'm having a similar problem with the SSBC rear kit. Adjusting the caliper slides helped but did not eliminate the noise. Any luck for you yet?
