Subject: Long or short muffler (Magnaflow) IP: Logged
Message: I just setup an appt. to have a dual exhaust system installed. I chose the magnaflow muffler. The tech said they have two configurations, short muffler and long muffler. Shorter is louder and longer or closer to stock. That was there description. Does anyone have the long or short version and how do they sound and perform. I am going to use the magnaflow just unsure of the long or short.
thanks,
Chris

Message: I have a flowmaster 40 series. I don't think it gets any lowder after the cat than this muffler.
It is not that loud but sounds good. To be honest at certain RPM's it does get a little anoying.
I love the sound and would choose the same again, but I can also understand why some people can't stand them.
FYI, durring my install I ran it without a muffler and it was not lowder than the 40 series, it just had more "cackle" on deceleration and sounded a little tinny.
I also went with a 3" pipe after the cat.
Performance wise you will not see much from just doing the exhaust. So if you going to do it at least get the sound out of it.
