Does anybody know about swapping the cam on a 4.7? This could be a untapped resource for power. I know people are doing it on the Toyota 4.7 for big gains. Even though they are totally different motors.

Looked into Cams and found nothing. emailed KRC and they also have no spec's for custom ground cams for the 4.7.

The story on the 4.7L cams is this: The Mustang crowd has 40,000 requests for overhead camshaft grinds compared to the Dakota request of less than 20, so expect our cams to take longer. We sent the stock cams out to get profiles mapped, but it is in the hands of the supply and demand system now.

How do I get on the request list? Has anyone ever swaped or replaced an OHC cam? I assume it would be fairly simple compared to a conventional cam. Are they right under the valve/cam covers.

Yes they are under the valve covers you gota take a few steps before u just yank em off, this engine has 3 chains, one coming from each cam and then one down to the crank you gota put the chains in proper timing before you take em off and put lil wedges down in between them to hold the tensioner, anyway its fairly easy no cams yet soooo guess is a mute point
