Message: Ok, heres my only problem with previous posts. What makes a hemi a hemi has nill to do with the type of pistons, nor does it have to do with spark plug location. It has some to do with combustions chamber shape, its all in the valves....laterally(sp?) opposed valves that are right inline with air/fuel flow. This is the secret to what makes a hemi the performer it is. Now the junk spreading around about the new hemi combustion chamber not being hemispherical, this is true, but the few cms of material we're added on either side to enhance te combustion characteristics which ofcourse enhances performance and efficiency. I have to admit i can do without an exact hemisphere if its gonna give me more power and save me some damn gas, but the engine still has the big ports and the lateral valves. Its still a Hemi. Now about the 4.7, its combustion chambers are very closely related to those of the polyshperical engines of the early and mid 60's i.e. the Poly 318. The 4.7 cylinder head does have very similar "breathing" capabilities to that of the hemi. Play around with 4.7 i garauntee it has potential that no one would expect.
