Message: have you tried working the 4 wheeldrive again now out of the mud? bj showed me how to use my 4x4, how you're supposed to put it in neutral and let it roll to lock and wierd stuff, it doesn't just automatically turn 4x4 on at the flip of the switch

Message: If your trying to go into low or out of low you have to be in neutral. Other then that you can shift on the fly but I've always done it while I'm stoped.

Message: Is your "service 4x4" light on? If so, check the plug on the back of the switch. When I installed my gauge face I inadvertently left that little plug off. No light & service 4x4 light lit.

Message: That's definitely why your truck is running crappy. The OBD-* computers in our trucks calibrate exactly how the truck runs based first on throttle position, then air intake volume, then O2 sensors. If anyone is off, the truck runs real bad. I had the 02 sensors on my new Dakota go out after 500 miles...it happens...once replaced i'm sure it will run a hell of a lot better!

Message: Naw, shouldn't. But I take mine off everytime my dak visits the dealer so they can't blame anything on it. I've had my cold air homebru intake on for about 10K miles and no engine related problems yet (knock on wood).
Did you have the TCM re-programmed for that TSB?
The dealership did mine when they determined they need to rebuild the transfer case (goes in on Monday). So on the way home, I put it in 4WD to see if the clicking noise changed any and I really hate how it engages into and out of 4WD now. The light blinks and it takes like 5 seconds to switch. Was much faster before they flashed it. I can live with it though.

Message: A bad o2 sensor will only cause your truck to run crappy at idle. Under acceleration the truck goes into "open loop" mode and doesnt even look at the O2 sensors.

Message: Sounds similar! Couldn't get my 02 QC 4x4, 14k miles, into 4hi or 4lo. Stayed in AWD & "service 4x4" light came on. Dealer said it was faulty Body Control Module (controls all electronics). Also lost windshield wiper, as couldn't turn it off and had to pull fuse. Still waiting after 1 1/2 weeks for BCM.
Dumb question, does 4.7 have 2 cooing fans or 1?
Starting to have problems with cooling fan coming on while running at lower speeds, and robbing engine of power and throttle response. Even if no 2nd fan, can the cooling fan coming on have this major of effect? May be related to BCM. Dealer said 2nd fan!!! Anybody know?

| RE: SAD DAY,GOT PULLED OUT BY A JEEP IP: Logged
Message: If it has a 4.7L engine, I think it has 2 fans. One is a clutch fan driven off the front of the engine using a belt. The other is electric. Could be that the faulty BCM isn't turning on the electric fan (or it's powered by the fust you pulled for the wipers :) When the temp gets high enough it first turns on the electric fan, since that fan isn't working, the heat causes the clutch fan to start spinning robbing the engine of power and hurts the throttle response. One test that the electric fan is working is to turn on the A/C. You should hear the whiiirrrr of the electric fan kick on and run.
