Subject: 3" FABTECH COILS
IP: Logged

Message:
Hi, I have a 2002 Dakota, and saw that they have 3" coil springs from Fabtech on sale, I called the company up and they said that for the 3" coil springs, I dont need to change the A-arms, is this true?? I heard about the 2" lift coils not needing changing of the a-arms, but they said that the 3" does not need a-arm changing, can someone confirm this? thanks!

If a Fabtech rep. says it doesn't need new arms then they are probably right (as long as its not a sales person, they usually don't know). But, you can also drive a truck with bad alignment...

There is a reason that the 3" kit comes with new a-arms and that is to correct the extreme geometry of the arms. Some say that you really should install longer arms with just 2" of lift. In any case, I would make sure you find out from fabtech what the advantage/disavantage is with and without the new a-arms. When it comes to tires, brakes, and suspension... you never want to "skimp-out" on these things!! Just my thoughts... ;-)

i had the 2" coils and i didnt need new a-arms. The tires wore correctly and everything. Now i have also heard about the 3" without arms. I have heard that the arms are for longer travel but i think it would also be an alignment thing.

Yeah, I figured 2" coils should be ok without new arms... I had a tech tell me from a shop (not fabtech) that new arms helped. I would still go with new ones though for the 3" kit. When I installed the lift on my truck, the stock arms tucked in alot and the new arms helped to push the tire back out. Thats about it!

Hey Intense,

can you tell me more about the 2" fabtech lift. I havent heard of many
people installing it. The fact you uninstalled it worries me. I am
considering getting one.

Thanks
