Message: Does anyone have the interco thornbird tires on their truck?
I am considering these tire because i heard they are OK on road, and off road they rock too...
I just need to hear it from someone that knows, not the sales person at the tire store...

Message: I run them on my '92 YJ w/4" Skyjacker and shackles. I think they are a really decent tire. Before these I ran Boggers, same size, 33's. These are pretty good on the road and not too bad in the woods. I have about 25000 KM's on them and they're not wearing bad at all. Just be sure to keep minimal air in them at all times. I run about 16 pounds on the road.

Message: I have to agree with Python97 and Dirty D BFG A/Ts are some pretty good tires. I run a set of 325/60/15 on 589 15x10. This size is the same as a 30x13.50. I've taken these tires through stuff that people with Boggers have been scared to go through. I know many people that have had thornbirds and they totally suck in the mud about the only thing that they are good for is the sand.

Thornbirds are the most horrible offroad tire ever made. They are a show tire and the are far from quiet on the road.

Message: I have two sets of thornbirds I run once in a while, they are a great sand tire but stay away from the mud. I have a set of 33's and a set of 35's. Right now i am running a set of ground hawgs and they rock in the mud sand and anything else you can throw at them. I would go for the super swaper sx's i had a set of 33 15.5 and they were good but wore fast.

Message: Thornbirds are an AT tire. Look at the tread design. You people need to stop comparing them to a mud tire. Do some research. They perform just fine and last longer then any mud tire.

Message: Are you sure that Thornbirds are ATs. I never would have guessed that by the tread pattern. Why too agressive looking. From what I understand about the tire they are awesome in sand and rocks but suck in mud unless you are in ruts. The side wall tread really helps out there. I have heard that they wear like crap and wear like iron.

Message: I built a chevy with 33X14.50 Birds. This truck went through more than the trucks with boggers of any size including 44's. It pulled most of them out of the really nasty stuff and rarely got stuck. They also wear like steel. The do suck in the snow and rain though. I'm waiting for a set of 35's for my 93 dakota right now.
by the way I'm running a set of BFG's right now and for the same price I'd much rather have the Thornbirds.

Message: I can't believe I haven't heard anything about the BFG Mud Terrain KO's in this forum! I would have to suggest these to anyone who goes off road (sand & mud) and still has to drive on the highway. I was running these on my old exploder. Took them through about 18 miles of unforgiving sand and mud mix every weekend. They do great! They are unstoppable. I only have one peeve w/ them...once they start wearing down (which takes a long time) they get "Super Swamper Bogger LOUD" on the highway. When I changed them out, I went to the BFG A/T ko's...Great on the road, but the sand will get the best of them if its deep soft "creekbed" sand. In the mud, well, they just don't have the self cleaning the M/T's have. Don't get me wrong, these are great tires (and wear like carbide). One must decide if they would rather have off road performance or quiet highway driving.
My Dak is going to get a fresh pair of "walk over anything" BFG M/T Meats! I drive an hour to and from work everyday, and they do just fine.
Here's some food for thought:
FOURWHEELER magazine named the BFG M/T's the best all round mud tire (that goes for off/on road tests)...
FOURWHEELER magazine named the Super Swamper Boggers the best mud tire period. (just really suck on the road)
As for the T-Bird question... these guys probably know more, but in my opinion by just looking at them, they really don't look like they can clean themselves good in the mud.

Message: In Re of the thornbirds. I personally do not have them on my Jeep. I have a set of Michelin AT's (10.5x31x15) and they totally SUCK when it comes to offroad anything....sand maybe not to bad. I really don't have any where I live. They do not bad on hard pack snow and ice but that is where thier preformance really stops. I was just looking at tire options today when in town and I think the next ones I get will be a set of Boggers. I grew up farming and if you want a tire to grip in mud & snow you need something that
has the tread pattern of a rear tractor tire, and the Boggers have it. I would think that the Thornbirds would suck in mud or snow. My Jeep is a daily driver but I own it because I don't live on the highway and I want it to perform where a Jeep was meant to....Offroad. But this is just my opinion.

IDIOT!
Yes they are an AT tire and by far the MOST AGGRESSIVE AT tire you're ever going to find. The biggest problem with them is the long 6" lug going down the middle. It makes them very slippery on wet surfaces. A tire groover can take care of that problem quite easily.
Take a look at goodyear MTR's. If I don't buy and groove Thornbirds i'll be buying MTR's. They are a mud tire with a tight pattern ie; an AT tire. The also have side wall tread but not even comparable to the TB's. Stay away from any swamper/baja claw or any strickly mud tire if it's a daily driver. You'll be buying tires by the end of the year if you don't.

Message: Well if you ask me thornbird tire ar awsome in the mud. They do like to hydroplain a lot because of the inner tread isn't much. but the big nobbies on the sides dig through mud really easy. They take my 87' NISSAN pick up through anything and it is only stock highth. I've got 30/11.50/15 on mine and go farther than trucks with 38's. i recommend getting them if you want to mud hard core.

Message: The ThornBirds are a joke, a AT is useless unless its Radial. and not only do they suck off road but iv heard many stories of the tries slip so fast that the side wall catches the dirt tipping the truck like a 1 legged stool. More than 1 account of this. They are the most worthless tire. It might be good if they cut alot more away off the tread and made it a radial.

Yeahhhh.....anyyyyyway, BFG muds are an excellent tire. I've put about 25K on a set of 33's on my yeepy and they still have around 50-60%. That's 40% street, 60% shrubs. Not too noisy on the highway and hell, I can barely hear 'em when they're crawlin' up a boulder too! ; ) They do well on everything except ice. Anyway, a good buy in my opinion.
