Message: I can honestly tell you that I had really good wear out of the set of 33's that I had. I had about 12,000 miles on them and still had between 1/2 and 3/4 tread. They wear really good. The dual belts really make them a great all around tire. Good luck with them.

Message: I've talked to several people about what tire I should run on my hd, some suggest the new trxus tire, while others say thornbird. The two are comparable in price but are completly different tires. I believe Dan 100% well because he owns them, but is there anything else I should know before I buy, its a whole lot of money and I'll be stuck with them for the next 8-10 monthes. I plan on buying in the next day or two, any more help will be appriciated. Thanks for your reply Dan.

Message: Brad, I honestly don't know much about the new TRXUS, so I can't comment on them, I know a couple people that have them but really won't know how they stack up for a few months. I don't think you will be disappointed with the Thornbirds, since you are not planning on strictly bogging them out, they wear extremely well for a swamper and they have a sound that is all there own, a friend of mine says they sound like an old B-52 bomber from WWII, plus they are ugly and grab people's attention. The only problem I had with mine is I had the raised white letters, turned out, and the layover on the sidewall started separating from the white inlay which looked like dry rot, just cosmetic. Thats the only problems I had.

Message: They develop flat spots over night so they will vibrate pretty good until you get a few miles on them every day.

Message: They don't have to do good in the mud since they are not a "MUD" tire, they are an "ALL TERRAIN" tire. These give people that don't mud there vehicles an opportunity to run a Swamper.

Message: Iv'e got a set of 33" thornbirds on my 97 dak and love them. At first i didn't cause they were all over the road but then i made some air pressure adjustments and now theyre great. Dont go with what the sidewall says for pressure instead start from max and slowly make adjustments decreasing the pressure till its just right.I run 28 front and 30 rear and makes a world of difference from 40psi. I've only got a few thousand miles on them but so far they look to be a good wearing tire. I freqeuntly go wheelin and am satisfied with theyre performance[again air pressure makes all the difference]Far as the flat spots go they are alomost non existant. Used to have a set of 35x15.5 tsl sx's on my old blazer and those used to flat spot real bad, these are nothin like them. hope this helps

Message: Well I know im about two years late but maybe someone doing reserch like I was will appreciate this. Once again you have two sides to this forum. The people that say "my brothers uncles friend had them on his chevy one-ton and hated them " and then the folks that have actually hade them on there dakota/durango. It always gets me how the people that actuall have the product on there vehicle usally have good things to say while the people that only post hearsay and speculation will badmouth the product... Just what I have come to expect from this site over the years. Just from my dealings with this site, If they say they have it on there Dakota/Durango listen to them, if there friends buddies dad have it on there Nissan Pathfinder ignore them...

Message: ok folks ive had three sets of these tires and absolutetly love them, i have a set on my 79 fullsize bronco and they were good, coulda been better though, another set i had on 87 bronco 2 and that was just amazing, would go through aything i put it through and now i am running them on a 75 f150 with six inches of lift and i have not been stuck yet, and i play where most people would not even take there quads, yes they have tire noise but just look at the tread pattern on them, try a set of boggers once now thats road noise, the key to these tires is to run little air pressure in them, i run 12-15 psi in them, depends on where im going but they had massive side walls so you can, they where great and no reason you should not get 60000 kms of highway driving out of them....thanxs

Message: If you have never ran these tires you should stop commenting on them and buy a set to try. I have a set of thornbirds 33x10.50x15 on my 98 jeep wrangler with a 4.0, 5-speed, limited slip rear and 3 inches of lift. The facts are that Thornbirds are not designed to be the best tire for anything. They are a compromise tire, intended to function as an all-terrain tire that will pull you through mud or snow as well as sand without beating you up on the road, with an incredibly aggressive look. They do this well in my opinion.
Mine drove terribly for about the first 1000 miles, very slick and squirmy on the street because the carcass of the tire is round like other bias ply tires and this allows minimal contact on the pavement, even at lower presures. At about 1000 miles I had to re-balance them but I think they were not balanced correctly by the shop that installed them. After that they drove very well on the road, compared to the other all terrain and mud tires I have used, thornbirds are right in the middle. They are loud, but I enjoy the sound on the road, they do not vibrate at low speeds like boggers. They dig as well in black or sandy mud as well or better than anything else, they will drag the belly of my jeep through muddy ruts deep enough that they cant reach the bottom, clay will clog them to some extent, but they do spin clean easily. They float through sand well without digging in too much, unless you want them to and then a heavy foot will bury them. Due to the long center lugs they do slip easily on wet pavement, but no more than any mud tire I've ran. On dry pavement they arent bad either, a lot more grip than most mud tires and nearly as much as most a/t tires, on the street in warm weather a full launch will pull my left front tire about an inch of the pavement, and only scratch on a hard second gear shift(until i broke the gears in my tranny, now Im more carefull on the street). They run great on the interstate, 75 mph is no sweat. Now they have about 17000 miles on them and i guess they will go another 5000 before replacing. I run 16 psi and rotate them often and they are great.
I will definitely buy them again for my jeep.
