I just got my '01 4x4 Dak this week, and I'm ready to hit the trails and get my baby dirty. Anyone know some good places to go in Western Pennsylvania? The Alleghney National Forest has a lot of ATV trail, any trails for trucks??
thanks.

I tend to head out to the trails at East Brady, PA near butler. They got some sick trails there, mud, rocks, hill climbs, really deep mudholes. When it rains, beware, u NEED backup :)

York is not in Western PA. East Brady is (grew up there ... currently live in Butler). If anyone sees this thread, please be aware that, although Brady was a good stomping ground in the past for 4x4's and other off-road vehicles, the property owners are cracking down. Nearly all of the land around the Brady/Allegheny River area is owned by individuals and leased to logging companies, railroads, et cetera. I have spoken with several individuals that have been caught on private land and cited. If there is any sign of a blockade at a trailhead (even if it has been torn down or otherwise broken), Tread Lightly rules do not apply. From what I understand, warnings are NOT being given .... only trespassing and destruction of private property tickets.

I live in the Allegheny National Forest and they dont have any truck trails that are advertised by the forest service. But there are a lot of old roads, trails, and bogs that you can take your truck through. You just have to know where they are at, as a local i know where they're at and my friends and I take the rigs out all the time.

Two-cycle engine designs are changing and it's absolutely imperative that AMSOIL provides the best possible products for those new designs.

Direct fuel injection and exhaust power valves have been incorporated in two-cycle engines in efforts to improve performance, reduce emissions and improve fuel efficiency. As a result, we're seeing leaner fuel-to-oil ratios and hotter-running engines, up to one-hundred and twenty degrees Fahrenheit hotter. This places additional demands on two-cycle oils.

Amsoil Interceptor 2-Cycle Oil eliminates exhaust power valves gumming up and sticking!

All of the ATV and Snowmobile Club Members PRAISE our oils.

I just moved to W. Pennsylvania (Blairsville). I have been looking for some places to go wheeling too. Nothing major, but just somewhere to have fun. Anyone up for getting together for a meet/off-road trip? Maybe some of these local guys would be gracious enough to show us some of the spots.

East Brady is on RT 68E from Zelie. About 50 miles. Spoke with some other friends of mine yesterday .... the word is the landowners have taken matters into their own hands. Evidently the police/game commission wasn't cracking down quickly enough, so the landowners have buried 2x4's with spikes thru them. One friend of mine with a tow truck got 8 calls Saturday nite from outta towners with flat tires. BEWARE - there is very little 'public' land in Brady.

There are quite a few 4x4 clubs in Ohio. Some of them have meets around Akron, Erie, and just across the PA/OH border from Beaver Valley. I've been on a few of these and they are really good. They are actual sanctioned events, as opposed to trespassing on someone's property.

One other thing to keep in mind wrt wheeling around Brady, or any private land. I was chattin with a guy at the bar that was wheeling and had a little accident (and consequently had to get towed). Firstly, he had to call 9 towing companies before he found one that would trespass to retrieve him. Secondly, the insurance company covered nothing since the damage occurred during the commissioning of a crime (trespassing and destruction of private property). The game commission was waiting at the trail head (by the closed gate) when the tow truck came out. Lovely.

Not all trails are restricted in east brady. There's a camp ground along the river where tons of mobil homes are stationed. There's a trail in the woods around there that i've taken for years and it's pretty much open. I'ven seen trucks of all sorts go through that area, including atv's and dirt bikes. Like some said, still gotta be careful where you tread.

I live in beaver falls which is 1 hour north of pittsburgh and about 40 min from new kensington. I've been to a trail near NK and it's a pretty rough trail to take on. I've seen 2 or 3 stuck trucks abandoned there so i'm sure it's a toughie. There are also trails here in beaver falls if anyone's close.

I haven't been to that trail in NK for almost a year but i'm pretty sure it's still there. There are some nasty obstacles to overcome there and mud-lakes taht will swallow you whole. I'm not too thrilled to take a stock dakota there so i hope whoever wants to go back there is kinda modified in some ways. I don't have my dak anymore (unfortunately) but i LOVE wheeling with other dak owners (i tend to bring a bucket to drool in). I have a 00 TJ lifted 3.5", locked in the rear, swamper ltb's. Email me if anyone's interested in going down there and if there's enough participation, i'll gather all the rigs i know of and we can set a date.
