I put my Bilsteins to the test this weekend at Hollister Hills and had no complaints. In fact, like Ole said, they're a huge improvement over stock.

On road I expected them to have a stiff ride, but was pleasantly surprised as they absorbed bumps and kept all four wheels in contact with the ground.

Off road is where I saw the greatest improvement. At higher speeds over bumps and washboard roads the truck stayed smooth and level. I never got into that uncontrolable rhythm of bouncing where I had to slow the truck to stop the bouncing. In fact, there was one time when I came down hard on all four wheels -- hit the front bump stops but came back up and that was it. Ruts, hill climbs, and washouts handled equally as well. Compared with Fourxfour's Rancho 9000's, I would say the Bilsteins are similar off road to his #4 setting. I do recommend them!

Thanks for the update RESQready. Sounds like fun. Nothing like putting new parts to the test and having it all work out. I think i'm sold on the Bilsteins now thanks to you and Ole.

I've got a 1989 Dak sport and I was wondering what good shocks I could get for it. I would get Rancho's 9000's but they dont make them for 4WD and I just need help picking out new ones, sence my truck still has it's 13year old stock ones.

OLe or RESQready what is the part number for ya'lls Bilsteins. Every place i've gone doesn't offer them for the Quad Cab only the reg. and CC models. Any thoughts?

Here's Ole's response on a previous post:

"I also was informed that the "standard" shocks would not fit the QC 4x4, so I called Bilstein Customer support. They had me measure my stock shocks in the compressed and extended positions, and I was able to verify that the "standard" (2000) shocks would fit. The part numbers are BE5-2617 and BE5-2618."

I ordered mine from shockwarehouse.com. The price was okay and the shocks were in stock -- just took about a week for delivery because they came from FL to CA.

This thread was so informative that I thought I'd bring it up again and check for updates on how the shocks are feeling now.

So what's the news??? Bilsteins still great, and how did the Rancho Vs. Bilstein in Pismo go?

Thanks,
WedoDak

DJ likes his Bilstein's.
I like the Adjustablility of the Rancho's. I think you can get a better stiffness off road. With the Rancho's and the adjustments make it so you can decide what you like best.

DJ's is on vacation and can not defend himself right now. The Yellow color is something different if you like that. Not for me.
