Finally made the decision to do two more changes to my truck, and I'm workin' my credit card hard!

Change 1: Just ordered new upper & lower ball joints from Napa. My driver's side upper looks like it has seen better days, so I decided to do all of them at once. I had to order upper's for a 99 since there's nothing listed in the parts catalog for a 2000. The drawing in the parts book looks identical to what's on the truck, so I'll find out if they will work when I pick them up later today. If they work, I'll post the parts numbers for anyone who is interested. I'm still under warranty, but I hate the idea of replacing a substandard part with another substandard part that I know I will have to replace in two more years. Cost for parts: just under $300.

Change 2: Just ordered new gears from Randy's Ring & Pinion. Got 3.55's now, ordered 3.90's. With the stock 31 inch tires, the overall gearing was a little too tall for my taste, and switching to 32's made it worse. And same old story...limited to Dodge parts for the front diff since Dodge switched from the Dana 35 to the Dodge 205mm (8 inch) for 2000, otherwise I might have gone as deep as 4.10's. Cost for parts: $783 with all new bearings, shims, crushsleeves, etc; $589 without all that stuff.

I'll pick up the ball joints today and the gears will be here Wednesday or Thursday.

Thanks Viper...not there yet, but soon. As soon as I get the gears in I'll call the shop I'm having it done at to make the appointment. They should be in by Wednesday or Thursday, so I'm hoping to have them installed by the end of next week.

And if John gets angry...well...he'll get over it! You two made me jealous with your lifts and black wheels!!
