Was wondering if anyone was running some form of on-board air compressor?

I've been looking at Viair 450-series & 550-series, and an ExtremeAire (all are 100% duty-cycle air-compressors), but I cannot seem to find anything to make me lean one way or another. Anyone have any experience with any of these?

No experience with the two you mentioned. But I do have on-board air and am very happy with it.

I've got a Quick Air 2 from Sun Performance:
http://sunperformance.com/
Inflates my 31s from 15 psi to 40 psi in five minutes each. I don't use air tools so don't need a tank. Nor do I need a 100% duty cycle. I can fill my tires plus a buddy's before I have to let the compressor cool.

I've got mine hardmounted in a steel toolbox, bolted inside the bed. After you install a compressor, get ready to buy a new battery. The Mopar batteries won't hold up to the repetitive discharge and recharge cycles.

Depends on how much $$ you want to spend. I think I'm going to end up going with the Quick Air 3 .. but if you want the best I've heard alot of good things about http://www.oasis-off-road.com. I've never used one.. and I've never seen one.. but the specs look good.

Money isn't my main concern--not that I'm loaded or anything. I'm just more concerned with buying an air compressor that can live up to my demands.

Here's the deal: This will give me the ability to deflate/inflate tires as needed, and allow me to use air tools. My detached garage just isn't big enough to buy a stand-alone compressor, and an air compressor in the garage wouldn't help me on the trail anyway.

I'm basically "war-gaming" for worst-case scenario...broken down in the Colorado backcountry with no other vehicles around. Field repairs with the self-contained "shop."
