Message: Does anyone have some super swamper thornbirds, and if so, what is their performance like? How are they on the hiway, in snow and in mud?

Message: I don't have them. I was thinking about it. The tread is just too close for me to trust em. Seems like they would get clogged easy and not help much. I ended up with the swamper radials. The kik as*. Just my 2 cents...

Message: yeah a buddy of mine has thornbirds on his cherokee. i wouldnt ever buy them after seeing how much throttle he needed and how many times it took him to get up a out of a mud pit via a three foot bank. although i think that they have served him well on the highway, but thats about it. my other friend has x-terains on his explorer and he made it up that mud bank quite easily. id recomend any of the TSL tires especialy the boggers, those freakin dig!

Message: Thanks...thats what I thought too. The tread blocks look too big and there is not any siping. I wouldn't think that they would be any good in wet weather on the hiway as well. I just wish that somebody made a less aggressive mud terrain tire about 35 inches!

Message: I have Thornbirds in 255/85x16 on my Pinzgauer (Army Truck). Great offroad at 20 PSI - I think with enough power you could change the rotation of the earth! I'd never put them on a civilized vehicle like my Dakota, though. Noisy as heck on road, with maximum vibration at 45 MPH - feels like they are square until they warm up. Loads of weight needed to balance them. Whenver they wear out I'll get something else...

Message: if you buy somethin like the super swampers or most of the swamper tires at the most you'll get 15-20,000 miles out of them. and that's pushin it. mud tires are also not known to wear well on the road. The tires of swamper are made of a softer rubber cause they can grip on anything that comes in their path. Try somethin like the pro comp mt which mastercraft makes the exact tire for a cheaper price.

Message: Have them...Love em!
Awesome in Mud...Horrible on wet pavement.
Noisy yes, but there are many tires that are louder. Plus they look awesome.

Message: I have em on my jeep and I hate em. I have a 3" sky jacker lift and they still tear my bumper apart. 31's 11.5.
They are terrible in the rain. I peal out all the time when its wet. But they are good in deep mud and great in sand.
I have a question. How much does each of the tires weigh. I need to know for my shipping cost. I am sure some of you know.
thanks..

Message: thornbirds are a great mud tire and are way loud on the road but its not like your plannin on runnin a road race w/ them. i just put a pair of 30x11.5r15 TSL/SXs on my 87 2wd kota they are great in the mud and w/ 168K miles on that v6 it will still peel out for about 30ft when the road is wet. i got a friend w/ 35x12.5r15 thornbirds on his 94 F150 and they work great he can spray a good roost around 50ft back w/ stock gears and no mods done to the 5.0 motor so id go w/ them if you got the money but its your choice
