Subject: 3" Rancho? IP: Logged
Message: I have a 99 Dakota and plan on putting the 3" rancho suspension lift on my truck. I heard 33's will fit, but trying to figure out the width. Are 33X1250's going to clear ok?.....do I need to change the backspacing on my wheel?

Message: Everything I have been told and read, 33x12.50's fit with no problem. I would try to keep the backspacing as close to stock as possible and go with 8in wide rims. I think 10in wide ones may rub a little. On the 99 Dak that 4Wheeler magazine did the 3in Rancho lift on, they put 33x12.50x15 BFG's on 15x8 rims with no problem.

Message: I have 33x12.50 on the stock 10-spoke 15x8 rims. I'm running the TC 5.5" lift and have a slight rub on the frame. My guess is that you would also have the same rub. It's really not enough to worry about, but if it really bugs you, you could go with a wheel with just a little less backspacing. If you do that, be careful that you don't then cause yourself to get a rub on the fenders.

Message: Thanks for the mailing Hawkeye. I am definately going with the rancho because it keeps the truck in the original geometry. I wasnted larger tires and a little more clearance - it fits exactly, and I do not have to worry about extending the driveshaft, etc.

Message: I have a 98 V8 sport with 33X12.5's and a 3" Rancho lift. I'm using the stock 5-spoke 15X8" rims and have had no problems with tire rubbing. Clearance is minimal with the steering wheel turned to the locks, but this has never been a problem for me on or off-road.
I hope this helps!
As for the Rancho lift, I love it. I installed it myself in a few weekends. The kit was complete and the instruction manual was great. The people at the Rancho Tech Support line were also helpful. They helped me with my tire clearance questions.
