Message: Nearly a year ago I purchased a "Truckin' Suspension" 4-1/2" lift kit. The tech dept. was no help, it seems that at that time, no-one there had any experience with that particular lift kit. Some of the brackets didn't fit, and others needed modification. I never did get the sway-bar brackets welded back on (needed relocation). It took 4 qualified 4x4 suspension mechanics 20 hours to install it. The shocks they sent were about twice too long. For Christ sakes, it took shorter than stock shocks. Why the didn't they use the existing boss on the axel for the shock mounts, I don't know. The new mounts are 1/2" plate, cantilevered over the leaf springs. Coming out of the driveway bent them (made some out of 3/4", but I still don't like it (they're bending)) I can't keep the front-end aligned for more than 1500 miles (eating tires like candy), and I've broken 2 shocks and have NEVER taken the Durango off-road (scared to). I'll be switching to the 3" Rancho lift as soon as I can afford it.

Message: The nightmare continues. As the owner of an accessory shop I have recently had my own problems with these people. I got the 4.5" 99up Dakota kit for a customer and the first part I tried to install was wrong. It took 3 calls to them before they agreed I had wrong parts(they never would call me back). They said they would UPS them to me(3-4days). I said I need it overnight. I talked to his boss and got the same sorry assed line "we don't do that for anyone". My shop is tied up over their screw up and they won't spring for $30 air freight?!?! You just don't do this to customers.. EVER! If they would do this to a wholesale customer, what would they do to an individual? I'm sorry you Dakota guys have no other alternative, but as for me, I no longer do business with Chassis Tech, AIM, or Truckin' Suspensions. I have been their customer for about 5 years and they have just cost me $1600 in shop down time and my customer's inconvenience of not having his truck. Am I the only dummy left i the world who takes care of the customer if there's a problem? Maybe these people love bad publicity because there is plenty of it involving them.

Message: Well I too own an accessorie shop and know the value of word of mouth. Luckily for me "or not" I installed my first and last truckin kit on my 2001 dakota quad cab. The install was very time comsuming but went ok. So after 160 miles my truck is broke. The stress caused by a poorly built kit caused the brackets to brake off from my 3rd member housing and one off my transmission. So If any of you have had a similar problem please let me know. Other than the fact the kit sucks, my broke truck looks awesome in my drive way.

Message: i'm a litttle late on this subject, new to this site, but for what it is worth i bought the 6.5" lift kit from truckin suspension and installed it on a 2000 dakota and put a 3" body lift on back in 2001. me and 2 budys and a lot of beer installed the kit in 1 week. i had no problems at all, but the only thing i did do extra was tack welded the brakets on. it is now 2008 still no problems with lift kit.

Message: got any pictures you can post? why did it take 1 week? I'm considering their 4.5" lift for my dakota but am kinda weary. They said I'd need a lengthened steering shaft- is taht true?

Message: The reason it took a week was because as he stated earlier "alot of beer" that means the next day was spent correcting things done on the alot of beer day.As for steering shaft i would say yeah you might have to swap that for a longer one,if not it will be close, i dont really remember how long the steering shaft will go but i swapped mine out,but i also have 3' body lift on top of the 4" suspension,so maybe with just the suspension lift you might make it.

Message: A suspension lift will not require a lengthened steering shaft. A body lift, however, will.
A 6" Suspension lift will require driveshaft lengthening. It does not directly affect the steering shaft.
