Message: Well, my truck is still being worked on, but I went up and saw it today. Both Front and rear axles are on and the steering is hooked up. They we putting the engine in today. It is looked pretty sweet. Looks like 12" of lift so far with the stock ramcharger wheels on it. They hope to be done with it in a few days. Can't wait. I have pictures of it so far if anyone wants to see them. I'll keep you posted on how it is coming.

Message: Both front and rear axles are out of an '83 Dodge Ram charger as well as the v-8, transmission, transfer case and front driveshaft. The rear driveshaft is custom made. The suspension is stock ramcharger with plans for additional lift springs once the swap is complete. The trans shifter is a truck style, floor mount ratchet shifter from hurst. Dash is custom, with 12.1" lcd screen with onboard 900Mhz pc for GPS navigation, dvd movies and mp3 music. It also has excellent topographical maps that include tons of trails for offroading and finding back that kick a$$ spot you went to that one day, if you know what I mean. And I no longer get lost which for me is a definate bonus. It also talks to you, giving you voice directions, and accepts voice recongition so you don't have to take your hands off the wheel. It is also connected to a 4 channel amplifier, eclipse cd player and kenwood speakers. The vinyl decals and window tint were done in my shop as that is what I do for a living. The truck also has the sport roll bar (black), which is being repainted right now along with the sport front bumper. Both will get lights.
If any one is interested in custom graphics for their dakota, just email me a good straight on side picture and I can design something for you. I can also hook you up with the nav system if you are interested.

Thanks for all your comments. I am pretty excited about getting it back, should definately be done sometime this week.

Message: What colors are you thinking. Many colors can go with the yellow. Purple, green, red, silver, etc.. Also on my truck the checkers are black, which obviously would not work on your, silver would look good. And do you want everything that is on my truck? I have the faded checkers on the bed sides. I have the yellow faded band on all sides and tailgate, and the graphic running from the top of the hood all the way around the tailgate and through to the other side. I also have the dakota banner accros the windshield. Also what year is your dakota. The checker over the hood is pretty easy to install on my style dakota, but would be quite difficult on the newer styles, because of the multiple curves of the hood and fender, although it is possible. Just depends on how inclinded you are at installing them. Let me know, and I will get you a price.

Message: Brent88, the swap with the ramcharger required custom mounts for everything. A couple people on this board said that the v-8 would fit with the v-6 mounts, which was way off. This could be true with a newer magnum engine maybe, but this is an older 318 from the 83 ramcharger. We had to make new motor mounts. Basically we cut the front crossmember out of the ramcharger and welded it into the dakota. We had to swap out the steering box, otherwise it would steer backwards, so that needed a custom mount. We had to weld up mounts for the leaf springs both front and back. The rear of the front springs use the shackles from the ramcharger. We drilled a hole in the frame, welded tubing through the hole and used bushings. The front we used the ramcharger shackles and mounts but had to extent the frame forward to mount the springs on. The rear was pretty easy, we just made custom mounts for the shocks so that they angled just like they did on the ramcharger(the dakota one were straight up and down). The front driveshaft was shortened, the rear is completely new (custom made by a local shop). Also, new brackets had to be made for the transfer case shifter, because in the stock position the handle hit the dash. All in all it has been a lot more work than we intended, but it all looks like it was made that way and not just thrown together. So far I am happy with it, although I haven't driven it yet. I am working on blueprinting a 360 right now that will be swapped in place of the 318 once I know all will work okay. Shift kit for the tranny, locker for the rear, air locker for the front, bigger gears, etc...
Sorry so long!
