 Subject: Axel Ratio

I looked on my info sticker in my glove box and it said that my axel ratio is 3.92 - those are my gears right? And in the rear axel it says - corporate 8... what does that mean. What are the largest size tires I can put on my truck.

Axle ratio is important when going to a bigger tire size but the question is what tire will fit. On a stock suspension you may be able to fit 32X11.50. However they will definately rub the frame when you turn the wheel all the way. you will need some kind of a lift for bigger tires.

I know I will need a susp. lift and was thinking about the 6.5 from truckin (if it ever gets completly finished) but could I put 35" on without getting new gears?

Yes you could but you will loose your "off the line power" but who cares if your running 35's anyway right?
I'm guessing you have the 4.7? You'd be fine.. Idealy you'd get 4.10's but those aren't available for '00+ Dakotas.

Would they still perform well for four wheel driving? Not Heavy but climbing hills and playing in the mud?
