Message: Hey there everyone,
I have an Idea and wanted to run it by all of you. Does anyone know if the upper control arms for a 2 wheel drive 2000 Dakota are the same size as the 2000 4x4 or even better where I can verify this? Here is what I had in mind. As you all know fabtech makes a lift for a 2000 Dakota 4x2 that comes with Stout ass upper control arms, and ball joints. Sooooo if we took these control arms and ball joints and could use them on our 4x4 we could have a stouter front suspension and therefore allowing us to crank the T-Bars a little harder!
Thanks to all who reply, and Knobby we are all biteing our nails for you man!

AWSOME idea I was just talking to Truckin-Suspension about making some custom Uppers but we'll see where this leads.
BTW Truckin-Suspension is working very well with me I'm incontact with the guy that created the lift and it looks like I have one part that was done incorrectly. We know what the problem is and it really isn't a bad issue just little metal triming and it'll be fine.
Anyway The Upper Control Arms are differen't. I just talked to my contact @ Mopar and the parts are differen't.. I don't know what the difference is... I'm going to try to get a hold of a 4x2 Dakota and see what the part looks like..
OH Silver.. where's your truck!?

Message: Oh thats freaky.
Just yesterday I was checking out tallquad's website and looking at his fabtech A-Arms and wondering the same thing. Not only would they be stronger and have better ball joints but they will also look great!
I'm pretty sure they are different though because the 2wd has to accomidate the coil sping in between it and the 4wd only has the shock going up the middle. Where's CW when you need him.

Message: ;-) Ok looks like Truckin-Suspension is going to seriously consider the idea. Unfortunatelly (for me anyway) it won't be available for somewhere around 6 months. But for you guys.. it should be a definate option. We'll see what happens.. But this would be REALLY cool. I just wish I had it available now so I could put them on.

Message: Cool thanks to all of you who replied. I am going to go call around junk yards and see if anyone might have a 4x2 upper arm. Then I could measure and see what the difference really is. I also have an e-mail in to http://www.californiasupertrucks.com/html/dodge-dakota-2wd-lift.htm to see if they can custom Fab some arms.
If they are close I just might buy the lift/arms from Fabtech and give it a try. I mean if they fit, we could use them with say the Rancho lift or Truckin suspention. I will let you know what I find out on the control arms. I will probably go to the junk yards this weekend.
