Does anyone have an 89 4x4 dakota 3.9 And if so what kind mileage are you getting. I'm getting 12 to 16 at the very best shoudn't it be getting better mileage.

12 to 16 mpg on a 13 yr. old 6 banger 4x4 sounds pretty good to me. My 2002 4.7 AWD QC gets the same mpg.

i'll answer 2 of your questions. i had an 89 w/5spd. i got the same mileage. mine had a 3 inch body lift with the torsion bars turned up some and a addaleaf in the back with 31/10.50x15s on 15x8 wheels. i had very minimal rubbing. mainly when trying to pull into a parking spot.

I have that same truck. The highest mpg's I've ever gotten was 18.75 on the freeway! But my average is probably around 16.5. I have 31x10.5" tires, 2" body lift, and 1.5" torsion bar lift. I also have some performance mods, too.

i get anywhere from 7*-16
*7 is when im marking snowmobile trails or doing minimal movement over long stretches of time in 4-low,
but other than the that i drop down to around 12 or 13 when its cold and snowy with 4x4 driving such as it is now, and about 15.8 or so when i drive around 60 for about 50 miles at a time. so yeah thats about average mileage, i heard of somone getting 20 mpg but i dont think its true unless the engine was reringed and rebuilt with some mods, i want to get a K&N filter with maybe one of those tornado fans on the intake (i heard the combo will get ya around another 2 mpg) but 9other than that im always trying to find ways to up my MPG with minimal $$$$ put into it,
Tigerdak what kind of mods you got? and can we getsome pics in here, i wanna see what the lifted 31in tire combo looks, ive been thinking for a while of raplacing my damn little 28" tires

There is a place on there to "see a pic of my lifted truck" (or something like that). Also another place to click on that lists out my mods. Its a very good source of info for Generation I mods.
