Message: Hi to all
I’m from Russia therefore I would ask you to excuse me my English.
Now I drive Mitsubishi Montero. But in according to my hobby (tourism and fishing) I need to carry snowmobile or ATV or bike or boat. It is desirable to avoid using a trailer because of probs at icy or snowy winter road and probs at off-road. I hope you understand what I’m trying to say ;). Another requirement is 4wd fulltime transfer box that allows fell better on Russian winter road.
Therefore I’ve started looking for truck (or pick-up) and found out that only one truck meeting my requirements (big enough rear box (bed?) and 4wd-fulltime option) is Dodge Dakota. That’s why I’m here and I need your advise on few questions:
1. Does it have probs in intensely cold weather?
2. How much I need lift it to use 33” tires?
3. Which tire model would you recommend?
4. Max speed of v8 5.2 Dak with 33”?
5. Is there rear differential gear lock option?
Thanx
Alex from Moscow.

Message: 1. I don't know I live in Texas so it's to warm to beable to tell but I haven't heard of any problems in the cold.
2. 3" Lift
3. Tires depend on what your doing. BFG's have always been good tires.
4. They don't make the 5.2 anymore it's now a 4.7 and the top speed is about 115 mph. I don't know what the top speed of the 5.2 was.
5. Yes there is a rear locker option. If you get a older truck w/ the 5.2 you can also get a locker for the front.
.. BTW .. Your English is better then mine. ;-) Feel free to ask as many questions as you'd like.
I have to say.. in all honisty that I think in your case you might want to look into a Ford F-250 just to compair. It has a larger bed so depending on what your going to put in the back you might want to look into that as well. Both the Ford F-250 & the Dodge Dakota are GREAT trucks.

Message: I can answer the cold problem I have a friend who has a dakota in Fairbanks, Alaska. He says he has had no problems with it in the cold weather. Some days it can get to -40 at night and as long as he keeps the block heater on it starts with no problems. Without the heater it will still start but not as easily as with. Oncew running there are no problems with the truck.
hope all this helps
if you have anymore questions feel free to post them, I speak russian so if it's easier to convey your question that way feel free.

Message: Hey, I live in the artic breeze zone of south Florida. Its gotten to 60 degs here once this month! My Dak nearly froze to death. Oh wait, shes a yankee from michigan sorry.
On the real side, Daks are great trucks. They work in all weather! Be careful about lifting the brand new daks though. Alot of people have a hard time doing it. At least it seems to be. make sure the truck you want has the lift options out there for you.
Whats Moscow like this time of year? I have always wanted to go there. The Kremlin looks to be very intresting! Good Luck man.
