Big D, Yeah I installed a Powertrax No-Slip diff in our '97 Dak CC 3.9 auto 4x4(rear) about two months ago. It's AWESOME--no more peg-leg! Well worth the money and easy to install! If you haven't checked 'em out already... www.powertrax.com

where did you get it? I've been thinking about this for a while and it seems like a good idea. Anyone have a better solution to the 1 legged problem?

Got mine from Summit-cost was about $400. You might find a better price elsewhere, but, I couldn't and Summit ships real fast to SE Michigan!

After experiancing the powertrax system on a 95 Jeep, I would not install them on my 93 Dakota. The off-road performance is very good,(almost impossible to make a wheel break loose from the other) but the on-road manners are awful. Every time you turn a corner the axle either hops or there is a terrible clicking from the differential. This also leads me to doubt the durability of the device. Spring a few dollars more and buy a limited slip unit from Auburngear.com or go nuts and buy a Detroit.

I believe you are talking about the Lock-Right locker from powertrax. And from what I have heard what you experienced seems normal. The locker will ratchet (clicking noise) when you corner. What I am interested in is Powertrax new No-slip traction system. From reading on their web page it is suppes to have all the benefits of a lock-right with much better road manners. Since the system is supposed to be new I was just wondering if anyone out there had one installed and if so what they thought. Can't stand making uninformed decisions.

Sorry about the mix-up. I think I will check those No-Slips out for myself.

But does this new system allow slippage when cornering or does it act like a spool?

The Powertrax No-Slip diff DOES disengage when cornering. There is just a slight clicking noise when cornering, but, nothing REALLY LOUD. Now I will admit it's not as smooth or quiet as a factory limited slip-I wouldn't expect it to be because this is a LOCKING diff. The best part about the Powertrax unit I think is the fact that it installs so easily-no need to disassemble your gear, buy new bearings-press them on, reset your gear, etc. After driving with ours for about two months we are very happy with it!!
