Subject: Passenger Axle Broke IP: Logged
Message: I was out wheeling today, and thought I would apply my brakes a bit up hill to stop the tires from spinning, like they do with Hummers. Well my front axle popped out from the hub area on the passenger side. Can anyone tell me if dodge will fix it under warrenty. And is this a frequent problem that anyone else has had? Thanks in Advance.

Message: First of all, do not tell them you were 4-wheelin and did a brake stop unless you are best friends with the service manager or they will probably tell you to go punt and you will be paying out of pocket!! Get your "story" straight before you go and stick to it, such as I put in 4-wheel and then heard a noise from front end, keep it as simple as possible and leave it at that. I am no telling you to lie, just don't give them every detail of how it actually happened and save yourself $$:)

Message: I broke my drivers side axle a few weeks back doing the exact same thing. Took it to the dealer, told them "it was making a noise in the front" and they fixed it no problem.
Was disapointed that it broke so easy tho.....

Message: Thanks for input. I have appt. Wed. AM. I was also dissapointed. I was going up a small hill, not very steep, with very little articulation, applied the brakes a bit to stop the wheels that were spinning and give some power to the other wheels. And pop, it was loud, funny thing was my wheel were almost straight, so there was no real tweaking or a lot of stress on the axle. I hope this is a one timer. I also will post some pics of the trip when the pics are devloped. Thanks again for all input.
