Message: Looking for advice, opinions, sources, associated costs of possibly doing a gear upgrade. Truck pulls decent with 31" tires, somewhat decent with 32" tires, but if I get the itch to go taller the current 3.92 gears just ain't gonna cut it.
For the limited amount of highway driving I do (70mph+) I'm looking at probably going with 4.56 gears. Any brand in particular that I should be looking at?

Message: 33's to 35's personally I'd stay with 3.90's to 4.10's. Over 35's then I'd go with the 4.56's or so as needed.
Only problem right now is that the only aftermarket gears available for 2000 and newer Daks are the 3.90's. At least that was the situation about 5 months ago when I was pricing them. Things may have changed since then. I called all the major dealers. I still plan on going to 3.90's myself. When I do I will definitely go through Randy's Ring & Pinion. When you do make SURE that whoever you use knows that you have a 2001 truck. 97 to 99 had a Dana 35 reverse cut front while 2000 and newer have a Chrysler 8 inch front.

Message: That would explain why I was having a hard time finding gears. lol
Maybe by the time someone makes a suspension lift the gears will be available. Probably gonna do both at the same time anyway.
You've had experience with Randy's Ring and Pinion, Hawk?
Thanks

Message: Havent ever bought anything from them but out of everyone I talked to on the phone they seemed to be the most knowledgable and by far the most helpful. Prices were as good or better than most too.

Message: I was at the Dodge Dealer a few days ago and the one service guy said the new mopar book is comming out soon and might carry a 4.10 gear but he is not sure. I have a 01 with 3.55 gears and want to go to 4.10 gears when they come out. He is going to call me when and if they come out. Dont know if this helps but hopefully when rancho gets the lift done gears will follow soon.
