Ok guys (and women, too). I have a dilemma on hand here. I woke up the other morning and had a wild hair. I decided that I wanted to go and look at and possibly buy a new Dak Quad cab, 4x2.
Yes, I know this is a Off-road forum, but the questions I have are a few:

1. I currently own a 98' Dak CC 4x4, V6, that I put a 3" body lift on with 32's and Am. racing 589's on and the truck looks GREAT. It also has the "nerf" bars and a bug guard and a drop in K&N and is just a really sweet, clean overall nice looking truck.
Now I know a few of you are scratching your heads asking, "Why"? Well, here is the dilemma. I am a single father of 3 boys, (10, 6 and 2) and I feel bad for them that they have to "crawl" in and out to the back seat. Now, if I had a Quad-cab, the issue would not be relavent, right?

2. The reason for the 4x2 is that I really don't go off-roading too much, so their isn't a real need to have a 4X4, just cool to have a 4X4.

3. The dealer that I went to here in town, (yes, only one in this town) said they can give me $11,700 for my Dak, and a new Quad cab, 4x2 would run me about $22,000. That being the SLT plus with a 4.7 in it.
I also called around the state to include Phoenix, and it was pretty much the same story. About $11,700 for my truck. So, for those of you that have the Quad cabs, what was the price (if I may so inquire) out the door for these. And what do you all think about trading it in for the Quad cab? Any input would be appreciated. Let's keep the harsh ones to a minimum. I know a few of you all out there have the Quad cabs, so input on that truck would help.
By the way, I only have 51,000 miles on my Dak.
By the way, I don't think I would ever get another make of truck. By far the best looking truck out there. I don't care if is isn't that fast, thats why I have a a Kawasaki ZX-9R!

Thanks in advance...look forward to hearing from you.

Mark

sounds to me that there is more issues here than feeling bad for your kids having to crawl into the truck. when i was a kid i loved crawling into huge trucks. its that whole monster truck thing. like you said, i cant imagine trading in a 4x4 dak with a lift tires/rims for a 4x2 quad cab. but that is me and my opinion.
good luck.

Airborne, I know exactly what you are saying. Thats exactly why I got my quad cab. My 2 boys. If you really dont go of road much then I say do it. You can still put a body lift on the 4x2, new tires, and if you want the Fabtech susp lift. As Im sure you have read, quite a few others with 4x2's have done that. Will give you the look and ride height and still allow you to do some mild off roading. For your situation and not doing a lot of off roading I say go for it. You will love the extra room and your boys will too. It wont be something that you have to trade in in 2 years as there is more than enough room for 4 adults. I love mine.

Airborne,

You must be talking about that difficult crawl into the back seat of an extended cab?? Go for the quad cab! I debated between the CC and the QC before finally deciding to go with the QC -- and I don't regret it. You loose a little bed space, but you'll gain a nice big, dry, secure area for kids, groceries, luggage, etc... In my opinion, I'd stay with a 4x4, but it sounds like a 2x could get you where you need to go. Anyway, you can probably get out the door with a 4x QC for $26k - $28k depending on dealer and options.

Sorry, I can't really comment on the trade in $$. Just watch out, the more they give you in trade in value, the less you may be able to negotiate the new sales price. There's always the option of selling the truck on your own, shopping around to other dealerships, and taking advantage of rebates, and low financing.
