Subject: sway bar?

I have been looking at the sway bar or traction bar(I forget whic one it is, but it keeps your tires planted) for the rear made by Hellwig for my 93 4x4 longbed Dakota. I use this my truck the street mostly, but how/what would this bar do offroad? Its the bar that bolts to the frame above the rear axle and then down to the rear axle.

If you get a stiffer swaybar it will help you on road. Off road it will hinder wheel articulation in the rear.
