Message: I had my first recovery back in December, a F250 4x4 had gone off the road trying to pull out a S-10 Extreme, they both laughed at me, and told me to get lost....this was during chicagos big blizzard on Dec 10, 2000....i told them a tow would cost at least 100 buck a peice so they agreed to let me take a shot at it, i hooked up and pulled both out in less than 10 minutes.....mad 50 bucks for the little work my dak had to do and,, make some other people think hey maybe my truck sux...

Mine was pulling out my buddy in his 1999 Dodge Ram 1500 QuadCab 4x4. He decided to test out his new Fabtech suspension (6" lift) in the mud and wanted to take a picture of his truck in the puddle as well. Sooooo...instead of handing the camera to someone else (me)...he STOPS in the middle of the puddle and gets out to snap a few pics. Hehehehe...even 4WL didn't help him.
Out came the snatch-strap from my toolbox and it took about 15 minutes to yank that monster out of the mud puddle. Luckily it wasn't that deep but it was rather gooey. My little 2WD V6 yanking out his big, bad 4x4 put a damper on the rest of his work day (we worked together at that time).
Heheheheh...I still don't let him live it down...everytime we go out..i'll ask him "Ya want me to get the snatch strap ready again?" ;)

Message: Dude, I have a funny one. Before I had my Dak, I was driving a Honda CR-V (don't laugh). It was a 4 cylinder all wheel drive. My friend's '73 4x4 Chevy 3/4 ton's battery died while on the beach, on a downhill slope towards the water. I hitched up his rig to my honda, and pulled him right out of the sand, and then he was able to bump start his rig. We were amazed.
As far as my Dakota goes, I pulled out my friend's burried 2wd Fabtech S-10 in the sand dunes, no prob.

You used to drive an aluminum can? (CRV...doesn't that stand for California Redemption Value?) ;)

Message: Yup. The Japanese tin can (CR-V). You would have been surprised. It was on a lease, so I would always thrash it off road. That little honda never had one problem, I launched it in the air a few feet after flying through a huge rut, I got stuck in mud all the way to the doors, and came close to rolling it several times. Never a problem or loose bolt. My Dakota can't take that kind of abuse.
