Subject: 2" Body Lift IP: Logged
Message: I'm interested in putting a Performance Accessories 2" body lift on my 99 4x2 RC 5spd. Is this a DIY installation? What's involved in the install? What kind of tools are needed? I have no experience with this kind of thing and any help or tips anyone can provide would be great.

Message: Find the posts that refer to the 3" body lifts. Whenever it says 3" insert 2" and your all set.
But in short...yes it is DIY. Basic Mechanical background and hand tools and you will be fine.

Message: I have the same lift on my dakota. It is fairly easy. You might need a second person to help lift and a braker bar or an impact gun to get the body bolts out. But be careful the preformance accessories kit does NOT come with all the brackits. We had to do a few of modifications to the front bumber to make it look right. But on a good note. You do not have to move trany cooling lines or raditor cooling lines, because on mine it just fits. But you do have to cut out the bottom of the fan shroud to make it fit. Now I have a '91 Dakota 4x4 with a 318 cubic inch in it. But If you have no expreience go with the 2" lift because with the 3" you have to move all of the cooling lines on the bottom because the fan will hit them. But if you have a V6 or a 4cyl, it might be a little diffrent. But it sure did make a difference on my truck. I was able to fit 31x10.5x15s under it. Looks cool. Good luck and I hope I was some Help.
