Subject: 4x4 Indicator Light IP: Logged
Message: got a stupid question for everyone...is that a 4x4 indicator light down by the shifter? if it is, then mine doesn't work. i had one guy tell me it was a light, and another guy tell me it is just there so the driver would know that it was a 4x4. this seems awfully stupid, since the transfer case shifter is right there, but i guess some people may not realize that :) if it is a light, how do you replace it? don't need it, but would be nice. great site.

Message: Yes Skeeter it is a light. There is a light on mine that is right below where it says 4x4 on the transfer case shifter. I actually didnt notice it there the first few times I went off roading and thought the truck didnt have one. In my opinion the light should be in the guage cluster in easy view.

Message: Assuming it's just a burned out bulb and the 97 is like the earlier Dakotas, it just a 194 push in bulb in a twist lock socket. Don't even need tools to change it.

Note: I very frequently get email from people asking about the lift kit in my ’88. Typically, I will NOT respond the emails (about 90%) that ask questions I’ve already covered on my web pages (ie. Where did you get the kit?, Who makes it?, How much did it cost?, What modifications did you have to make to get it to fit your truck?. How hard was it to install? What problems did you
encounter? etc, etc...)
