The Cognito kits are top notch and I've seen a few of them around here run fairly hard and they are still holding up solid.

Whats up people....I'm new...just going to hop right in the conversation....I have a 2000 silverado with the 10" kit--12" with newer torsion brackets.....I have 30,000 miles on it.....has been a great lift....with just a few complaints: 1.) DRIVETRAIN---I had a custom drive shaft built by High Angle Driveline for the rear---it's a regular cab---If you have a reg. cab..There is NO if....it is a must(velocity joints front and rear)! 2.) Please do not attempt to use the single shock (oem mount) willn't work because of clearance probs. 3.) I went with the Full Throttle shock hoops --- a wonderful design --- no squeaks. 3.) I recommend traction bars and new leafs are an absolute must.(of course). If I where to design the mounting brackets for the front diff I would have give the diff a much greater angle to compensate for the lower universal. 4.) Please install daul steering stablelizers if you have even bigger than 35's. 5.) By a Hypertech power-programmer-not just for tire size---I enjoy the shift firmness increase...FINALLY---with all of those things compensated for you are good to go---forever---I have 5.13's drive the hell out of it and have enjoyed my truck immensly. Don't half ass--take care of your predicaments from the get go. If this is NOT DONE...your in for embarrassment and stress for sure. ----Take Care --Matt

Yeah man......sounds like you know what your talking about.....the truth is....anyone who is buying a $2000.00 drop for their IFS DOESN'T....I didn't when I bought and installed....if I could go back I would simply do a solid axle conversion....with bilstein coil-overs. So many advantages will come with such a lift. Good luck amateur....get your pocket book ready captain! p.s...I can let go of my wheel at 90 m.p.h and track a straight line....I have a whiplash....39's....sounds like your buddy got the shaft....later

Hi, I have a 1997 chevy Z71 single cab. I just purchased a 10" whiplash lift that has been preinstalled. I have a guy puttin it on right now and he has ran into a problem with the front end bolting on. Can anybody let me know if they have had this same problem. I also do not have the instructions, if anybody has instructions to this lift, please contact me. Also, did these lifts change for any of the years between 88-98? thanks, Jusitn

i have heard the craze about whiplash. i also have a 10 inch whiplash suspension lift on a 2002 crew cab f-150 and from day one this company has screwed me over. none of the parts that came with the lift fit on my truck everything had to refabricated to make fit. the company stooped so low by sending me some GM products to go on my truck. Like i said this company is ripp off and i would like to hear from everyone out there that has had some sort of problem with whiplash. please email me and tell me your story.

Noticed this old thread and thought I too would share my horror story on Whiplash (whiptrash).
I ordered the full 10" kit with dual shocks front and rear and everything else they claimed was needed- + new front drive shaft. I agree with the previous posts- it took months and months to get all the parts they promised and even then some were missing and others just would not fit. Fortunately, I have a machine and fab shop and the owner of my local 4wd shop is a close friend. It took us several weeks and alot of extra fabrication to get my 96 Chevy Tahoe right. But, with lots of extra fabrication and customization, it eventually turned out awesome. I agree that whiplash has the WORST customer service EVER and now understand that they are out of business, only 2 guys left and they are only doing part time work on the side.
I think the only part I ended up using as-is was the front box. I had to custom fab everything else from the front shock mounts to the rear drive shaft.
I am a fool to lift a IFS that high- should have gone straight axle conversion. But in the end, I have a very unique Tahoe that rides and drives great. Although most use has been on-road, I have had the opportunity to beat it up considerably offroad and everything still holding together well- even able to keep it aligned even better than the previous Pro Comp 4" system.
